I was hoping to go for that job with the postal service. But my chance of getting that job relied on my sister calling a particular number as soon as possible, as both of our names could be thrust into the work roster during the chaos of my younger brother leaving. Rather than call immediately, my sister left it for almost a week. We missed our chance. The routes were re-rostered without us, and its unlikely they will be shuffled up for a while. Australia Post is under a hiring freeze, so this was the only opportunity to get a delivery job in our area.
Last night I had a horrible nightmare. I dreamt that I was having an odd respiratory problem. A family member (I don't know which) told me the only treatment was to put blood into my lungs. They inserted an IV line into my right arm, and inserted the other end of the tube into my mouth. I could feel the tube scraping and scratching through my throat, then a curious poking in my chest. Then a flood of warmth and pressure. I lay on my bed, slowly draining myself into myself. My throat started hurting. I pulled the line back out, and spilled blood over my shirt and floor. I was feeling disoriented. But I knew I needed this treatment. So I pushed the tube back into my throat and down to my lungs. I gagged, but the tube stayed. Then my right arm began to hurt. It was throbbing, and felt swollen. When I looked, my arm was covered with furiously pulsating purple veins. I tried to scream, but the tube in my mouth prevented me from making a sound.
It's been a trying day.
