My two younger brothers have been involved in the postal service for a while now. Delivering packages and making do with their lives. It's something that I'd had an interest in doing, as it seemed a nifty job. Something that I could, at least, do to earn a survivable wage and get the experience to apply for something decent (if not sticking with it as a source of income.) But to do this I'd need to have the funds to purchase a white van. These tend to go for at least $3,000. I've been lucky to hold a third of that in my hot little hands for any length of time.
Now it seems one of the brothers will be moving on to greener pastures, causing a shuffle along of vehicles and work duties of which I could take advantage. I could be given a van and a delivery shift (maybe), and pay off the cost of the vehicle while I work. It's the chance to do something with my days other than fail at university or sit around my house.
In fact, the pay could be sufficient to let me move into a place of my own. Wouldn't that be something. Surviving on my own for the first time in my life. Not even the government floating my finances.
We'll see how it goes. I've learned not to get my hopes up when things start looking good.
