Merry Christmas, Baby, you sure did treat me nice--Charles Brown

It was a Merry Christmas. We didn't make it to my folks, for the third consecutive year, or church, so it was just the five of us.

Joe was a little overwhelmed. As the youngest of three, he's not used to having toys that actually work. He doesn't even know that the mobile in his crib is supposed to go around around. Having toys of his own that light up and make noise was exciting, at first. After a bit, Joe was ready for bed.

Daniel got a bike (with training wheels) AND Squawkers Macaw. Now that we have a blacktop driveway, Daniel is finally learning how to pedal. We went around the block six times!
My folks got all three boys a RoboPanda. Yes, a robotic Panda. Daniel has spent a lot time sitting between the robot bird and the robot panda. Daniel plays with blocks or works on a puzzle while the robots talk to each other.

Sam got a train table and some wooden trains. He also got a Hot Wheels Car Crusher. Very popular at our house.

My coolest gift was a jersey from a Turkish soccer team. It's wicked cool. The big surprise was a Borders gift certificate from the boys. They told Suchari they wanted to get something for me at the bookstore. And ride the glass elevator at the bookstore. That was cool. Other than Santa stuff for the boys, we didn't really do much Christmas for ourselves this year. Or our anniversary, which was Sunday. Seventeen years. Long time. We were together for three years before we got married, so Suchari has been part of my life for 20 of my 41 years. Wow.

Since we weren't going to be in Indiana for Christmas, I decided to record some Christmas stuff to send to my folks. It ended up being two songs on guitar (Silver Bells and Jingle Bells), an original (I Like Pink Snow, by Daniel) and Sam singing "We Wish YOu a Merry Christmas (and a Happy Day)" followed by Christmas messages from the boys. I think my folks liked it.

I started this at 5:30 this morning, and have been adding to it throughout the day.

I just got off the phone with Coach. He's still trying to figure out why he got fired. He doesn't want to cause trouble or get the job back, but he also doesn't want to make the same mistakes again.

The main reason he called was to tell me about the survey results. He put together a ten question or so survey that was administered online. Everything was completely confidential, so he had no idea who said what. The responses were nice. Either the girls believed what we said, or they were just telling us what we wanted to hear. EIther way, it made him feel good.

I stayed up WAAAY too late Monday night. I got to see my beloved Broncos get KILLED on MNF. The good part was that Chris Chambers scored a TD, and I WON MY FIRST FANTASY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, baby! After ten years, I finally get the trophy. IF there is one.

I spent most of Monday night/Tuesday morning assembling Daniel's bike. It went together pretty well, except for the front wheel. I ended up having to bend the fork a little bit to get it to fit. HE loves it. We've spent the last two afternoons riding around the block.

I'm following Sara Ray's lead in making my LJ public. Since I am no longer coaching or leading a youth group, I don't have to be quite as careful about what I say. Bastard. Shit. Son of a bitch. See? I can say whatever I want. I can even confess that one of my hobbies is making beer. Yes, it's legal. Home zymurgy (beer making) has been legal since Jimmy Carter signed the Cranston Act of 1979. Not a lot of people know that. I'm still dead set against underage drinking. Especially for athletes.
