This was the second appointment for the GRASS trial. Very simply, I had my blood pressure checked (118/69 number fans - I think that's OK...) then I gave about 240 ml of blood, which will be whisked away for analysis of immune cells - t cell counts, cytokines etc. This is based on the observation that during the hay fever season levels of this will be high - and in the off season these levels will be low. So this will provide mechanistic insights into the body's immune response and hay fever. Also did some quality of life forms, which is nice 'cos there's recognition that hay fever is a right pain in the neck when you're trying to work at a desk and have to keep wiping your nose.
Next appointment will be in November, which is a full day of allergy testing. On thursday I may attend an induction meeting, where there will be more background on the trial and meet the team (and presumably other patients).
