Yesterday's Journey To Beckenham / Saturday Slumming

Jun 24, 2023 19:58

Well, the final charity shop visit for this month has been completed. I took an early trip yesterday to get to Beckenham in the suburbia of Greater London and not far from Bromley.
It was a gloriously sunny day for the visit, a cool 25C with a nice breeze.

I picked up two books for my gift-aid item and non -gift aid item.

Both looked unread and were only five pounds.

I then decided to go on a bus ride rather than the same route back. So I boarded a 358 bus which took me from Beckenham through to Farringdon Village, Bromley, and finally Orpington.

I noticed that the Spoons pub that was on the main high street had gone and is now in Petts Wood according to a local. I did not bother getting up to that end of the town and took an R1 bus to St. Mary's Cray to catch a train home.

As the train neared Faversham I decided to stay on it and alight at Westgate On Sea. I decided to see the new Flash movie. I had fish and chips from a chippy in Westgate. Whilst the fish was delicious there was too much batter and the chips were soggy. The Ospringe Fiush bar close to me is much better.

Anyway, I watched The Flash movie with two smuggled-in cans of strong ale. It was funny in places, and sometimes thrilling, with some weird CGI with the multiverse aspect, and yet I felt it could have been better. I did watch recently Man Of Steel on a streaming service which I thought was better than this. I do find Marvel doing these films better than the DC Comics franchise.

After the movie, I caught the last train home, which was at 23:08, and then walked home from Faverhsm station and thus arrived just after midnight.

I went straught to bed.

Woke up at eight.

So, today has been one of relaxing and catching up on my recent CD finds throughout the week.
And where was the sun today?

It hardly appeared but stayed a little cloudy and humid at around 27C. It appeared for an hour or so, just enough to do some sunbathing. Oh well, at least i had a lovely cheesy pizza for lunch.

Now I fancy some fish again.
