I have Kind of Blue and Time Out. I don't have the other albums he mentioned but I do have a bunch of other Monk and Mingus albums. They're great.

I agree with C. Frapp above... I'd recommend Kind Of Blue, Time Out (& its sequel Time Further Out), Ah Um, by Mingus, Empyrean Isles by Herbie Hancock, with a Django Reinhardt/Stephane Grapelli album (any of them will do!!) to get people into jazz, before you send them off to Thelonius Monk, or Coltrane...

As for Fusion, is it sacrilegious to say I don't like Bitches Brew?? I much prefer In A Silent Way...
