Meet the "Sea Saw"

Because I don't like bad luck, we chose to view Southwind's misfortune as having a silver lining.

A bigass silver lining.

i.e. the push we needed to put us in the boat we always meant to have.

Meet the Sea Saw

She's a MacGregor 26X Motorsailer. She can sail like a sailboat and, when fair winds turn foul, she can fire up her 50hp Honda and take off for home port in excess of 20mph.

She has the interior capacity of a vessel half again her size, thanks to her powerboat-esque lines - enough to sleep eight adults in comfort. A six foot ceiling! Gads of room for long-term camping for two of us. (Or us and a couple of guests). Your choice of a v-berth for two or a King-size stern-berth. A full canvas cockpit enclosure turns the cockpit into a windproof, rainpoof living room.

Yet, despite being palatial inside, she is a deft and wiry thiing on the outside. Because of her dumpable water ballast, she can be tossed on her trailer and towed behind any reasonable vehicle to some far off shore where she can be set up and dropped in the water in about a half hour. And if I don't want to haul her out on her trailer, her 10 inch powerboat-like draught allows her to be driven right up on a beach for a bumpless night of sleep.

I closed the deal today, 3 grand under the ask, and pick her up in Kingston on Saturday.

I've been wanting to have all of you - my friends - over for a sail and a drink - and now I can!
