Whitby Goth Weekend?

When I started going to Infest it was always camera in hand to photograph the bands. There were a couple where I didn't take along a camera but when the opportunity to take the camera back there came up again I went for it. This time I was photographing for Alternative Voice and now that the review has gone up I can put some pictures up here.

The Dames of Darkness festival is the small UK festival which looks to be taking it’s cues from MFVF in Belgium. This is no bad thing at all and if anything I would have expected more people in attendance. Perhaps the heady location of Bilson was just to exotic for some ( Read more... )

Headcheck Records like their gigs in Nottingham. This is a good thing - I like their gigs in N'ham too and so I went with mrph up to The Old Angel last month.

Whitby Goth Weekend is a bit of a staple of my social life. I started going with venta not long after dinosaurs last walked the earth and I've probably been photographing bands for at least half the time.

I was taking pictures in Nottingham a couple of months ago, at the Dark Waters festival. It was in the boat club again, which is an unexpectedly interesting venue, with the stage in a cave-like recess. Makes for some interesting pictures ( Read more... )

I went over to Bilston a fortnight ago for the Dames of Darkness festival. If you like that sort of thing (Which I do) then it was a great day. Other people have written more verbose reviews, why not try here ( Read more... )

My pictures from Whitby... I seem to have taken the unusual step of positioning myself at the foot of a stage and taken pictures of bands. Almost everyone else seemed to be on Church Street, waving cameras at passers by. Must be doing it wrong.

About a month ago Ade, the man behind putting Goths into busses and sending them to Germany, had a significant birthday.

Never a man to do things by half, his party had a bit of a musical theme... It was less a birthday party, more a birthday mini-festival, with 6 bands playing, including one that had was having its launch at the party.
