Autocross adventures!
Well it was a HOT, LONG, but fun weekend......
Friday was setup day......so setting up then off to look and test fit larger car seats at noon.......then back home to change and go to the hotel for registration then off to walk the course later than night with friends (Hi austin folks!).
So then Saturday is upon us.....I get the grid sheets posted and all is running well......then not so much.....timing delays.....hardware related not axware I'm told...so then they are fixed then not then fixed again.....2.5 hours later the heat is finally over and we get a LOVELY 15 min break LOL.......but this is not before more drama......
I have to listen to Equirapturd :P cry about the car she is driving in front of the poor owner LOL>.....then when she's getting the hang of it i see the RF wobbling under braking at the finish on like run 2 or 3.
So I go over to see whats up and her eyes are huge.......something like...."I broke it.....the front end is possessed" or something similar. So we pull the RF and check for broken parts....then as we put the wheel back on I look at the lugs and realize its the lugs not working well with the wheel......so they re-torque them all and life is grand!
Later that afternoon I run......its fun and I"m sliding all over the place.......full opposite lock on my 1st run at about 45mph LOL ya....exciting :)
8 cones later I finally put down a good 4th run and I'm leading......sigh.....ok.....car has a big oil leak though....valve cover gasket? Kerry (the owner) is off to get a new one.....
So I am off to chill with Mike, Vicki and Karter at the RV (the lime green Lotus drivers). :) i see them playing rock bad and so I laugh a bit.....but then I watch and am greatly entertained. :) Mike on drums, Vicki on guitar and Karter on vocals. Its amusing......so then I get the Mic passed to me..........(which I'm too hot to care to say no about at this point). So I sing and we kill it...then another and another....and I realize I really like this game now LOL. :) Then they seem to remember i went to school briefly with a scholarship for vocal performance. LOL.
So then we go outside (we did about every 45 min for breaks) and we notice Andy Hollis.....AGAIN.....for like the 4th time coming from his RV with ANOTHER pitcher of ritas......then another and another and another........
so after its about 830 we quit the game.....karter leaves and I catch Andy and Zack barnes on their way back....I stop and get a small amount of rita to sip on. I take one swig and pour it back. Why? I ask Andy and Zack why they are so bad. LOL
Andy then slurs out how great they are but hey wait....dude......we ran out of margarita mix before we made this.......so its crushed ice and tequila huh andy? YEP! LOL
Well I have some great video from that night I gotta put on youtube somewhere. :)
So Sunday Andy is still not out 15 min before first car off. Then we see him stumble out.......take care of the puppy Aspen and then he's off to work :) For about 30 min.....then he passes out on the floor of the timing truck........which Sondra and I both have pics of LOL........and long story short he was only well enough to make 1 run on sunday with a cone......and dropped like 3-4 spots in class and from 2nd in pax to like outside the top 20 LOL........Don Julio - 1 ; Andy - 0
And then for Kerry in the miata Sunday was great....the car worked great and we had a ton of grip and I had a blast :) I think I won by almost a second.........
So today I have decided to keep the miata and build a mild STS2 car :)
And I'm tired as poop. Even after going to bed at 930 last night LOL
