Workout Overview

I've been to the gym everyday this week. I've been consistently in about three times a week for the last month or so. I've been playing with the different classes offered, aerobics, cardio-kickboxing, yoga, etc. I typically attend a class and then wander off on my own for half an hour of cardio on the stairmaster and weight training.

Over the last three weeks I can feel that my bis and tris have increased in mass as well as strength. I've been over-exercising my abs and they are hanging in there, however I should rest them for a few days before demanding more. This generally stems from the classes *all* containing ab-segments... and I like to work them on my own so it's partially my fault. I don't have pecs to speak of, this doesn't bother me much, because they are getting stronger, I just started below the curve on this muscle group. More time is required for their un-atrophication. Quads are getting stronger, not that they need exercise besides front stance three times a week. My delts aren't as fantastic as when I was swimming, but they've still got nice definition.

I can't do as much cardio as I'd like to. My limiting factors are my knees. At a certain point they start whispering to me, "...you'll regret this tomorrow..." I get a decent workout, but I could push much harder were they not a bottle neck.

Yoga was a disappointment, having studied martial arts for five years (more or less), it didn't contain enough challenging aspects to warrant my time. My expectations were too high, but this doesn't excuse the class.

I went to an aerobics/strength class which was a good combination of both, but too long for the benefits, my only problems was coordination. This I'm sure would come with time if I stuck with it. Additionally the class is 80's fabulous like the Eric Prydz music video.

Kickboxing, which really is hugely fantastical misnomer, but excellent exercise none-the-less, made me more happy. Again I had trouble with the coordination, but I left the room feeling like I had done work. I could attend for a month before my body adapted suitably to the demands of this class. I can adapt this class to my needs as a martial artist as well, so my movements look different from others, but that's fine with me because my yakazuki could insta-blick anyone in the room.
