Luna had been reading up on Spralernonks in the library, and had been disappointed on the lack of material that she found. She glanced around her lightly, and spotted a familiar face. Her smile brightened.

"Spike, good morning!" she said brightly, skipping her way toward him. She was mildly surprised to see him around the library - he didn't strike her as the type to appreciate reading - but perhaps he was just stopping by. Or perhaps she was judging wrongly.

"Hey, pet," he greeted her softly. Oh, he knew her name, but pet was easier and perhaps a bit more fitting for her. "Glad I ran into you this morning," he said casually to her as he closed the distance between them. "Got a few questions for you, if you've got the time to chat."

If she didn't, well, that was fine too.

"Questions?" Luna asked curiously. She wondered what sorts of things that Spike would want to ask her about. Wizarding things? Or perhaps he too had gone to the library and been disappointed by the amount of information they had on creatures like Spralernonks, and wanted to ask her what she knew about them. Or about Solmagons. She smiled, nodding her head. "I have some time," she told him. "What did you want to ask me?"

"Just a bit curious what a wizard ... or d'you fancy yourself witches?" Oh yes, he'd done a little bit of listening and asking around. "What you sorts with the wands like for gifts. I was assigned one of them for the Christmas gift exchange, and you're the only one I really know. So it seemed to me you'd be the best one to ask - if you don't mind me askin'."

Luna smiled. "I don't mind," she assured him, though her mind was already going through all the possible options of who it could be. Obviously he hadn't picked her - he wouldn't be asking for her help, if that were the case - and as she went through the names, she realized there were quite a lot. And many that she didn't know. She pondered possible gift ideas.

"Males are wizards," she told him as she thought. "Females are usually witches." An idea occurred to her. "I haven't really looked, but I'd imagine that if you can find any sort of enchanted candies in the Business District, that would be a good place to start," she nodded. "Chocolate Frogs, Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, Pumpkin Juice..." she put a finger to her lips, still thinking.

"Chocolate, frogs," Spike repeated slowly. "Now, I've heard of some interestin' things in my time, but I have to say, chocolate frogs is right up there," he told her. "I mean, I know some South American and African places have chocolate covered ants, and crickets and the like, but frogs?" Every flavor beans and pumpkin juice, he supposed he could get behind, but chocolate frogs? "D'you like them?" he asked speculatively, his brow furrowing just a bit.

For some reason, he couldn't imagine her eating chocolate covered frogs - but then, he had a very different idea of what they were talking about.

Luna giggled slightly. "I'm sorry, I should explain," she said. "They aren't real frogs - they are chocolate that has been enchanted to ask as a frog," she nodded. "Inside, there are trading cards," she continued, "of famous witches and wizards and things. Many students collect them," she shrugged. "I myself am not really a fan of them. I enjoy the chocolate but my collection of cards is not extensive," she smiled.

She wondered if that was still confusing, and perhaps she should locate a store that sold wizarding candies and show him what she meant. It was, after all, difficult to imagine if you had never seen one before.

So she wasn't a fan of the cards, but she liked chocolate. Got it. "So what else do your sort like? Your girl sort," he clarified. "Flowers? Sparkly things? Ribbons?"

What did girls like? Girls that you couldn't just give a person to for a snack, anyway? "What do witches want?" he mused before he grinned down to Luna.

Luna giggled. So he had a witch then. She went over them in her head, and smiled when she realized there weren't many. She wondered idly which one of them Spike had picked.

"I imagine all of those would work nicely," she said with a nod, though she didn't know the others well enough to really say one way or the other. "I can't really say though," she said with a small chuckle. "When you spend all of your time searching for Crumple-Horned Snorkacks, ribbons are not terribly useful." She paused, thoughtful. "Shiny things are," she said with a nod. Snorkacks were like Magpies that way.

"Do a lot of witches hunt for crumple horn whatsits?" he inquired. Though he supposed ... shiny things could work. Maybe a nice gold necklace or something. He studied Luna and thought she didn't look like the fine chain sort.

Maybe a candy necklace then. Or one of those gaudy bead ones. But a nice guady.

She shook her head. "A lot of witches don't think they exist," she said with a small frown. "A lot of wizards too. My dad and I went searching for one in Sweden once, but we didn't find it..." she sighed. "They're quite elusive."

She paused, hint of a smile on her lips. "I suppose I'm a bit odd for believing in those sorts of things," she admitted.

Spike was confused, and was now wondering if they were real, or if they were like unicorns - only real in drawings, mythology, and statue art. "Well, everyone has to believe in something," he said before deciding the sentiment didn't quite fit the bill.

And he hadn't really settled on anything to get her - though he was starting to think she'd be pleased with just about anything he decided on. Which made it rather easy.

Luna beamed, completely in agreement with his sentiment.

"What do you believe in Spike?" she asked curiously, tilting her head to the side to regard him. "I don't mean Snorkacks," she specified, in case that's what he thought she meant. "But there must be something..." she paused, "...or someone you believe in?"

She frowned. "Or maybe that you used to?" she offered softly.

"Seen a lot in my time, pet. Most of what I believe in's been turned to dust, one way or 'nother." Spike regarded the little blonde witch curiously before he smiled, and shrugged.

"So, I suppose I believe in somethin', yeah, but nothing I can put my finger on right at the moment." He grinned affably to her. "Maybe it'll come to me."

Luna smiled somewhat sadly. She didn't like the idea that anyone's beliefs, or what they believed in, had been turned to dust. "I hope you do," she murmured softly.

That was a rather unhappy topic, she felt. Or unhappy for her, at least. So she paused, thoughtfully, before she spoke somewhat randomly. "Art supplies," with a nod. Then, to clarify, "As a present. I don't know about Lily, or Kat, but I like to paint things," she smiled. She could decorate her treehouse. "Perhaps they do as well?"

"Well, who doesn't like a nice paint set?" he said with a grin, deciding that would be a good idea. Now, if there was some sort of art store around, he'd be good to go.

"Maybe I'll look into that," he mused thoughtfully before he reached out to ruffle her hair gently. "You've been quite helpful, pet. Glad I bumped into you."
