Not that she expected him to get that. Light side, lighter ... yes, all right, it was something of a stretch, anyway.

He reckoned they ought to get a lay of the land first, but that weren't always the way of things, and aside from that he wasn't running this show, she was. He was just there to blow things up; he'd brought grenades.

She stepped away from the portal - though not very far, and she gazed down the stretch of beach. Envy. Why didn't they have a beach?

He was paid to shoot and take care of complications. A hand patted his girls, Heather and Dara, one on each hip. Let it never be said that Jayne didn't come prepared.

This would be so much easier if they knew what they were looking for. Piteraq inhaled slowly, and sighed. God, it even smelled nicer over here.
"Well, if we play off that we're new arrivals, the ..." she trailed off. Even if he did do that, she couldn't see him being exactly ... subtle about anything. He'd probably blurt out why they were here. "Nevermind," she said before she gestured to him, and started to walk out of the cove.
The question was ... where to, first?

"Reckon it's on th' beach?" he asked, shooting her a significant glance, "I'd be willin' t'go check that out."
If by 'check that out' you meant 'laze around on the beach', then Jayne was your man.

People might eventually show up on the beach, after all, and he could talk to them while he was ... looking for seashells or something.
And it would give her some time to stealth around without a grenade-toting walking ad for anti-subtlety. "Just ... be careful, and try not to draw too much attention to yourself."

"Will do," he replied, and wondered idly if he was like to find more treasure and the like somewhere other than the beach. But he'd said beach, so that was the direction he headed.
For now.

It wouldn't be hard to pretend to be new - for all that, she was new. A little smile tugged at her lips as she contemplated how best to go about this. Obviously, asking about it was right out ... but she could guide the conversation.

Wash Logic for the win.
Outside today involved the beach, and he grinned a little as he started toward it, half buttoned shirt fluttering as it caught the wind coming off the surf.
Upon approaching, he noticed a figure already on the beach. He squinted. The figure was familiar, and he laughed when he realized why. Well, didn't that just make everyone? "Jayne Cobb," he called toward the other man. "As I live and breathe, is that really you?"

"Uh hey," he muttered, a hand reaching up to unconsciously rub the back of his neck, "Guess it's me. Was I bein' looked for?"
Of all the folk to have run into him in this entire bubble, why someone he knew? He groaned inwardly, wondering how long he'd be able to keep up any kind of charade. They didn't, after all, pay him to think.

Then thought about that. "Everyone but Book and Inara, anyway," he amended. "I bet Mal will be thrilled to have you here," he continued on. "So how have you been? And what's the last thing you remember?"
Sure, all right, it was a lot of questions. He thought about warning Jayne about the invaders, but he figured he'd give him a minute.
Besides. Jayne had guns, Jayne didn't need a warning.

"Been fine, mostly," he continued, "Las' thing I remember..."
His brow furrowed, wondering how exactly that applied. Because technically, the last thing he remembered was walking up to this beach....

Standing on the sand, Wash grinned up to Jayne. It was interesting to see him here, but not a bad kind of interesting. More of an 'I wonder if Inara and Book are on their way' sort of interesting.

"After," he replied, bewildered, "How come you ain't dead?"
Subtle as a bullet to the brainpan, our Jayne.
