DEVASTATED!
O M G! Today on CNN's website, they had a story about a dog who survived a GAS CHAMBER euthanization attempt in Georgia. GAS CHAMBER! I was completely appaled at this, so I googled it and apparently this sort of thing is relatively common! There was another dog in St. Louis that survived it too! SOOOOO UPSET!
It's bad enough that they euthanize non-sick/violent dogs in the first place (which should be completely banned in my opinion!), but to put them through 25 minutes of suffering in a gas chamber is ridiculous. There was one site that said when you go back in to get the dead bodies they are all foaming at the mouth and their fluids leak out everywhere...yuck!
I can't believe that this is common practice! There's some shelter in Utah that instead of getting bottled CO2 to kill them, USES THE EXHAUST OF A PICKUP TRUCK! And that's all fine-legal-and dandy, no legal action was taken against them!
This is why people need to get their pets from humane societies/animal shelters--so this sort of thing doesn't happen and animals aren't put to death for no reason. This doggie was sooo cute to--I have no idea how you could put him in a room to die :'( I will never in my life get a non-saved pet--EVER!
