1. i find it interesting to note how many guys will send messages to me on adam4adam or manhunt between 1 and 3 or 4 am Sunday morning... many more times than i can get in an entire week.  sadly, it took years for me to realize this is what happens when they run out of better options and desperation kicks in

Your grandfathers had lower expectations. They were given a pretty basic set of rules, and it didn't matter whether they liked it or not, they had no way of deviating from a path set out for them. Often, being aware that there are alternatives that are being denied to you, especially ones denied to you by your own actions, is far more stressful. Those who are watching their mental states are typically more self aware and more able to see and admit their own part in their lack of fulfillment.

Also, they were your grandfathers. They'd already been through the tough shit. They'd gone through the struggles you're experiencing now and come out the other side. Of course it looked easy.
