Strike me down (I'll be everything I'm not)
This was going to be a very weird (and very late thanks to RL) mix of thoughts, some more coherent than others, that I wrote down as I watched the finale. I started adding caps because it's impossible to talk about LotS without caps and at some point the number of caps got out of hand, so now this is a big-ass picspam, with some easily ignored comments in between.
There's flailing, squeeing and at times caps lock abuse. Also, IMAGE HEAVY. You've been warned.

I love it when Zedd gets badass. Well, I love it when anyone in this show gets badass, but you know, sometimes I forget that Zedd is supposed to be uber!powerful and stuff. Also, double dagger throw!!
Really Zedd?? You want to keep trying the spell on different people to see if it works?? Really? Wizard of the First Order, Life depending on you, and your best is experimenting with a highly unstable spell??
Ok. So, we are in AU v3.0. Badass Zedd is still very cool, BUT. Eternity happened. It’s not a possibility that it didn’t. It. Is. Not. Cara would not be who she is if you take one of the most significant relationships of her life and undo it (also, butterfly effect, one person does not affect just that one thing, DUH). I will not give this cockblocking victory to Zedd.
Do I understand that it's not even about the relationship, but about having to be plot-wise somewhere near the Pillars of creation, and taking the first shortcut they thought of (aka, POWERFUL MAGIC)? Yes I do. I still do not like it. And as I do not like it, and we've been told the spell is highly unstable, in my mind one spell undid the other. And that's it. I can't pull this kind of denial shit with RL stuff, I feel almost obligated to do it with fandom things.
Cara!! I have missed you. Also, dirty people shouldn’t look *that* good. Cara’s reaction to Zedd’s concern amuses me.

There was a promo pic that had the four of them sitting around a fire. I'm thinking that's them camping for the night, and probably where Zedd explains things. On one hand I want to see it cause there will be Cara Faces and maybe ~Feelings, but I don't want them to say explicitly that Eternity didn't happen.

NICCI. Look at that entrance. This Nicci is bad-ass as they come, and I love the dark look (book!Nicci). I’m not a fan of the curly thing going on in her hair extensions, but hey, I’ll take it, she does looks pretty and I'm shallow like that. BTW, Darken Rahl and Nicci, while you are eyesexing each other, please, feel free to make out if you want to, thanks. Both of them look ridiculously pretty and there's some chemistry going on there. Man, in a third season this could have been Epic.
I find a bit amusing the variety of dresses the sisters of the dark can choose from, depending on how much cleavage they want to show. No undies world!! And, um, that’s some fancy hairdo the recently deceased sister of the dark is sporting. I almost pity Sister Marianna, between the Keeper, HBIC Nicci and Darken Rahl, there's no way you can be even a remotely interesting baddie.
I can’t help but laugh every time Richard jumps. It’s just funny. It probably has to do with that time he reminded me of a flying squirrel in that epic fight scene where girlfriends defended each other in an awesome and badass way.
Look at the prettiness. Look how adorably short Tab is compared to the rest of them. And she's wearing heels. She runs on those heels. ON SAND. Recognize.
This reminds me of Perdition <3.
The boy’s eyes are very striking, more so when he looks like he’s been crying. Well, it’s his whole face actually. Richard has to be the nicest guy in the whole wide world and he’s going to be the best dad ever.
I tend to forget how pretty Craig Horner is.
Gotta love how, even though she must be wearing tons of cloth, Nicci still manages to show her whole leg. I love this show.
I knew it. I knew the boy was going to be evil as probably 99% of people watching realized before I did. He’s too striking not to. Although yay, for letting Richard be all huggy and nice to him, without having the kid get evil eyes when Richard couldn't see him and that kind of thing.
I’m thinking that maybe it would have been creepier with less of the original keeper’s voice over the kid’s one. The part I can hear sounds creepy enough, but it's a bit distracting. I would have liked to see the rest of the options. And I have to give it to them, the Sister's of the Dark dresses may be the most awful thing to wear if you are trying to be inconspicuous, but they look seriously pretty in dark places.
OH RICHARD. He's taking the Keeper on a piggyback ride. *insert LOLing pause* I don't think anyone was expecting that. Poor Richard is like physically unable to be anything other than nice to people, especially children. This is the LOLworthy but awesome stuff that makes me love this show so damn much.
And yes, the first cap is titled "My spider sense is tingling" and right after the second one is where Cara would have rolled her eyes to the infinity and beyond.
Verna!!! Verna was so awesome. Also, I like that the sisters of the light dress in pastel colors. It’s very book canon. Also, how uncomfortable do those dacras look? It's like super easy to grab them by the cutting part instead of the other one. I would cut myself all the time.
WHAT. I mean, WHAT! NICCI CONFESSING KAHLAN?? OH MY GOD SHOW. I love Nicci’s eyebrow going up right after Kahlan says “command me mistress”. OMG. I can’t believe this just happened. Hmm, so Nicci's master plan is to make babies with Richard. Understandable. Also, fucked up. And one hell of a scenario, with Kahlan in love with Nicci, Richard more in love with Kahlan and doing Nicci by Kahlan’s orders. I'd read it.

Anyhow, so plot-wise Kahlan has basically confessed herself AGAIN? LOL. I love you, show.
So, Richard needs a kid to walk but when that kid (who is not blind and yet manages to fall down the mountain and get trapped, idek) falls, he's able to climb down the mountain, sneak on an assassin monk and stab him right through the heart in about 15 secs, by himself without any help. Okay. I will pretend that Richard clearly has had ninja skills all this time and he's just playing with us. Also, that sneak attack? PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE.
And of course he fights blind. I’m actually thankful that the had him miss once. Kahlan’s hair, you are as epic as it was back in 1x01. And the fights. So much love for these fights. You've ruined me for any other fights. In the Lost finale there was this mini-fight, and all I could think about was how lame it was compared with any fight in LotS.

I have to say I find the way they did it perfect. With Kahlan confessed and in the Con Dar not appreciating it and Richard with his eyes closed and not knowing what she was doing. It's like the best possible scenario and so much better than in the books. Seriously, I dare anyone to think of something better.
Boy, if Kahlan felt bad back in Denna when she dreamt she stabbed Richard, just think how it’s gonna be when they get out of this. And that shot, the one used in the big caps? That shot is the most gorgeous thing EVER.
Oh Richard, he truly is such a good man. You can't not love him when he tells Kahlan that it isn’t her and that he loves her. You just can't. I love how similar it's to Bound, when Kahlan’s last words were basically to tell Richard the same thing. And you know that as epically cheesy as Richard and Kahlan can get, at the end of the day they are too damn adorable and cute together.
BTW, the big cap? That's right about when I started to tear up.
“Cara, hurry, I’ve killed him.”
And this is where I started sobbing.
HAI CARA.
So for a moment there I thought that as the boy had the stone and had gone back to the underworld, Kahlan stabbing Richard was the perfect excuse to have him naked take it back from the Keeper. So boo, no naked!Richard in the no undies world, but that’s fine. Having a new stone of tears appear from Richard's pecs is much more amusing, although I'll give it to the writers, with all the "As long as the Mother Confessor's pure heart..." prophecy it makes a bit of sense (or at the very least, it doesn't look like they pulled it out of their asses).
Also, what the hell, the breath of life cures a stabbed heart but doesn't do anything about a few scratches in the eyes? Tsk, tsk.
The Keeper's dramatic no has to be one of the most lol-worthy things in the whole episode and that's some pretty CGI right there.

I love that Rahl brought Nicci back. They would have been so very awesome. Very Jagang&Nicci in the books.
The moment Zedd detects the possibility of sexytiems, he tries to cockblock by talking all the time. Richard & Kahlan clearly have learned to ignore him. Good for them. Zedd’s explanations are always a bit… unnecessary but it's ok, I've learned to ignore them, specially when they are absurd (explanation about Cara&Leo and True Love, I'm looking at you).
In any case, Zedd, Dumbledore called, he want his speech about the power of love back.
And Cara, I see you not looking in the third cap and thinking about all the sexytiems the three of you are going to have in the last one (btw, if there were any kind of award for background acting, Tabrett Bethell should win it. Twice).

I have a ridiculous amount of love for that kiss. How she grabs him (I love that she always does that, think back to their first kiss in Denna) and how they smile into the kiss, and her smile, it's so playful and just HAPPY. And of course, thanks to The X-Files, I love foreheads touching. The bells were a bit over the top, but whatevs. It's a fantastic finale kiss.
The worst part is how little closure Cara's arc gets (and yes, I'm ignoring the undoing). There's this promotional picture where the four of them are sitting on a cave around a fire which hasn't been included in the ep. I think that's probably where Zedd explains the AU things, and probably gives closure to the Cara thing. Or in an epic scenario, Zedd using ~powerful magic so many times could have CONSEQUENCES and good part of the third season plot would be related to Cara being in danger because of it.
In any case, I hate that we don't get to see the others know what Cara goes through in Eternity, how she considers them family and says so even though she knows they will see that as weakness, how she's come so far feelings wise that the only way to break her is through a super!agiel filled with ~powerful magic.
In that line, fix-it fic.
So, I don’t think it’s sinking it yet. I can’t say I’m in a hurry to be ridiculously SAD. The imagery, the effects, the stunts. Everything. This is how epic is done.
