David of the Trails: An Audition Update

Feb 13, 2009 09:02

A week and a half ago, I auditioned for roles in an audio book version of Tina Field Howe's "Alysa of the Fields". Last night, I got a call from the author, who informed me that I'll be playing Szaren. According to the book's website, "Szaren is a fearless Trailman, a hunter/warrior." I don't want to say too much about his role in the book, or his relationship with the other characters, but his presence on the cover of the second book should provide something of an idea. Recording sessions start next month, most likely in Corning (hooray for saving gas!), and I get to use a British accent. More info on the series can be found at the AlysaBooks website.

As a side note, Tina and I have worked together before, nearly eleven years ago, in "Murder on the Air". In the front row of this photo, you'll see Gary Yoggy (who I'm doing my sixth "Golden Age of Radio" show with this April), Tina, me, Rachel Bryant (who later wrote weekly articles for the Star-Gazette), and Andy Parker (who appears with me in "A Wake to Die For" this March).
