Sapphire French Martini

2 oz Bombay Sapphire gin
3 oz pineapple juice
a drizzle of raspberry liqueur (I used Raspberry di Amore)
a raspberry as garnish

From the Bombay Sapphire website

Shake the ingredients over ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Skewer the raspberry on a toothpick and serve with the raspberry suspended over the glass.

I just tried this, and it was very impressive. I'm definitely adding it to my list of recommendations.

Sapphire Farhini

2 oz Bombay Sapphire gin
1 oz peach schnapps
1 oz raspberry juice
1 1/2 oz ruby red orange juice
a squeeze of lime

From the Bombay Sapphire website - "Inspired by Nicole Farhi"

Shake the ingredients, except the lime, over ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Squeeze a slice of lime over the drink. If you don't have a slice of lime, use a dash of lime juice, but DO NOT SKIP THE LIME.

At first, I wasn't going to post this one, as it wasn't very good when I first tried it. You see, the website said to use the lime as a garnish, and I sometimes skip the garnish if I don't have it (and I'm out of limes). Usually I substitute a drop of juice or something, but this time I forgot. And the drink was crap. The peach schnapps was overpowering, and I was very disappointed. Then I remembered the lime - and added a dash of lime juice. What a difference! The drink became much better, with the other flavors now detectable and interesting, rather than buried by the schnapps. I still don't think it's as good as the Sapphire French Martini, but it's good enough to get my recommendation. For the record, ruby red orange juice and normal orange juice not quite the same - ruby red orange juice (unless sold by Tropicana, who uses the name for a orange-grapefruit blend) is the same as blood orange juice. For most purposes (except color), normal orange juice is just as good. For a more precise match, use orange juice mixed with a little ruby red grapefruit juice (the Tropicana people have the right idea, even if they are cheating you out of a treat). Blood orange juice is awesome, but seldom available at most grocery stores. Sometimes you find it in early spring or late winter, when it's in season. If you like slightly less sweet fruit, give blood oranges and their juice a try, but for cocktails, it's easier to cheat.
