ARRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I just bought Neverwinter Nights 2 and after a delayed start (stupid packet delivery guys *grrr*) I was looking forward to playing it. Only it turns out, that the DVD drive on my laptop won't recognize the DVD. &$/%$"§@~/(§$§/$!!

I'm thinking this is due to some stupid copy protection, because it works fine on my computer (which of course doesn't fulfill the minimum requirements for the game) and my laptop hasn't decided to reject all DVDs. Just this one.

Great.

So I decide to access the working DVD drive from my laptop via network and just install it that way. Which works, no problem. Until you try to start the game. Then it tells you that some files are in the wrong place. Apparently trying to install it from an external drive confuses a few things. Q$§%()!/"$§%@!!!

Sooo, plan B. Make an image of my (perfectly legal, bought and paid for dammit) DVD and mount it with Daemon Tools. That works, installing the game that way works too. But trying to start it? Not so much. You get the cute message to please put the DVD in another drive. Which I would if I could. ³%§/$§%@@{[}]!!!!

In a last effort I try to start the game I just installed via image with the DVD in the external drive. Yeah, didn't think so either.

I bet there are ways to get this to work, but I'm real a n00b when it comes to this. I just want to play my stupid game and waste a few hours of my life on frying monsters with fireballs. Is that too much to ask?

nerdage, rage
