Wow, it's been a REALLY quiet week. Everyone's been so busy, even those who were trying to make a point to hang out have fallen through. I don't lay blame...it's just that time of year for everyone. Unfortunately, it does make one realize just how nice it is to have friends around. This is one of the BIG reasons I'm looking forward to having a room/house-mate again. It's been a while, but I think I got my "living alone" thing done and proved I could do it. The privacy is nice, but it's getting kinda old.
I do admit, however, that I missed out on an opportunity to hang out and game for a bit last night. I was about to print out my character sheet at about 7:30 (which already makes me late to the game) when I realized I hadn't sent out an email I'd been promising to send. Then, I realized...blah, blah, blah. By the time I'd finished up everything, it was 11pm. D'OH! Sorry, guys! At least I'd warned you I might not make it...oh well.
Had a couple small jobs and some old clients call back with little questions. One very grateful (and sweet) couple even sent me a Christmas card with a family photo and a $20 bill. I swear, my clients are the best. I hope they understand that I appreciate them just as much as they seem to appreciate me. It's a good feeling. :)
Watched "
Hellsing" again. No, not "Van Hellsing" the Hugh Jackman movie...I'm referring to the anime. Yeah, yeah, I know...more with the anime. Actually, this time it's the retail DVD version one of my best friends had brought over to watch. I tried watching it in just Japanese with no subtitles...I'm able to catch little bits and pieces, but I still have no idea what they're actually saying. No surprise there. That, and after seeing it in English, I can't help but go back. Now, understand...I normally much prefer Japanese voice acting to English, but in this case, it made sense. I mean, it takes place in London. That, and the voice actors, for once, are BETTER in English. Maybe it's just the British accents, but still...that's more than a little rare.
I decided the other day to turn on
Pandora for a bit. I realized that I really didn't want to hear anything heavy, but that's what I'd set up, so I added a station. Since I planned to do a bit of studying, I figured I'd try instrumental stuff. I like the music for the Final Fantasy series of games, so I put in "
Nobuo Uematsu". I also added in
Kitaro. Well, turns out I like New Age music more than I thought. I've had Pandora playing that station for 3 days straight now. I've liked Kitaro's music for years. I guess it's only fitting.
On that note, I actually had to apologize to another friend of mine. I had ragged on him pretty bad about going to see John Tesh in concert. Now, I was never a real fan of him as a TV personality, so I never bothered listening to his music. I figured it was just some classical-wannabe crap. Uh...I was wrong. It came up on Pandora on the prior mentioned station. This doesn't change my old opinion of him as a TV personality, but music is a whole other arena. He was so amused at my apology that he put me on speakerphone so he and his wife could both hear me say "No, I'm not high...no, I'm not drunk...I'm serious." Come on...was it really THAT shocking? Whatever. :p
Ok, wow...if this doesn't say how far video game music has come... I'm still listening to that channel on Pandora and what comes on but a track from the
Halo 2 soundtrack. Now, I own it and like it (game and soundtrack), but I never thought I'd hear it here. Come to think of it, I'm not sure why since it's an AWESOME soundtrack. Great instrumental music...epic-movie-level stuff. Just surprised me is all.
Well, I think I'm done for now. There's always more to say, but I'm exhausted.
Website work, studying computers and Japanese, etc, etc, etc. Happy to be busy, but *whew*...if only more of it was income-generating!
(Oh, btw...that website link in the last part is for my business web page. Please let me know what you think of the revision! It's not pro-quality, but it's a LOT better than it was before! Thanks to those who gave me constructive feedback and positive comments. You know who you are.) :)
