'Tis madness!

It's been a crazy weekend... now turning into the crazy week following the crazy weekend.

On Friday night I attended a disputation party at the Farmaceuthic Student Union. It was a friend of Mats who celebrated having finished his doctor's thesis, and I got to tag along. There was good food and many speeches. I enjoy going to sittings as long as many songs are sung and spexes are performed, otherwise I tend to get bored easily -- unless I know many of the other guests, or feel at home among them.
The best part of it, however, was getting to see the union which my brother was a member of when he was a student.

On Saturday we hosted a huge ball at our own nation. The most famous male choir in Sweden, Orphei Drängar, had decided to throw this big party at V-Dala instead of having it at Uppsala Castle as usual. How cool isn't that?
There were 35 waiters. Thirty-five! Most of them weren't very experienced, but most of them did one hell of a job. We've never been that many before.
The highly formal dinner flew by in an instant, which means that we never had the time to sit down and relax. It was a good thing, because the evening passed in a blur and before we knew it, it was time for the staff sitting.

It was one wicked night. To begin with, our future Second Curator awarded some of us with bottles of champagne for having worked hard this semester. I was... shocked... and... well, very touched, to find myself being handed a bottle. *sniffs*
Our nation's two song conductors had both been working, so naturally there was a lot of singing at the staff party. There was also an obscene amount of obscene jokes.
Megan, Niklas and I spent a huge part of the night sitting in a corner, singing. For example, Megan and I performed the Elephant Love Song Medley from Moulin Rouge, much to Sanna's dismay. >:)
I think I got home somewhere around half past five in the morning.

Three hours later, Johanna phoned me from the nation and reminded me that I was supposed to be at the nation, working at the brunch. Basically, I rolled out of bed and into a pair of jeans, and then I was off... I was a little tired at first, but it passed.
After having finished working, I went home to sleep and study for a couple of hours before it was time to set off for the University House where Niklas and I were going to spend a couple of hours selling CDs at Orphei Drängar's Caprice concert. Our friend Mattias is a member of the choir and he had asked us if we wanted to work -- for a reward of a CD each plus the chance to attend the concert for free. Too bad, I was too tired to go... but I got myself a CD with traditional spring songs.

Then, finally, yesterday was the big moment: The last landskap of the semester. A landskap during which I was formally appointed Bar Chief of V-Dala Nation. Whee!
(Gleich bin ich also die Barmeisterin der Nation... to say it in German.)
The theme for the sitting following the landskap was, of course, the Nobel Party. Most of the fulltimers and a few others changed into tailcoats and ball gowns. Fake Nobel prizes were handed out and the two song conductors did their best to give each song a Nobel air.

After the sitting, we sang, drank drinks, danced and played games for a couple of hours... (the foot game, for example, was hilariously fun) and then it was definitely time for me to gome home and get some sleep, since I had to get up early and write my grammar exam today.
I'm kind of tired now. I'd better shape up, though, 'cause I'm off to work in an hour or so...
