What happened to my weekend off?

Nov 12, 2006 13:08

The last two days have been craaaazy.
I thought I was going to spend Friday and Saturday quietly at home. Then, on Friday afternoon, there was a Zelda committee meeting (very informal, but still...), after which I followed my President to a spex meeting at the student nation -- a meeting during which I kind of promised to participate in a performance at another student nation. A performance that would be given, like, 28 hours later... oh, joy.
Luckily I didn't have to memorise a lot of lines; I was just supposed to 1) act nerdy in overalls, 2) dress up as a good fairy and 3) sing a text to the melody of Hooked on a Feeling.

Friday evening was rather peaceful, though. Kee, fretting about not getting her prom dress ready for next week's ball, spent a couple of hours at my place working on her prom dress and introducing me to a wonderful slash site. =)~

On Saturday morning I worked at the student nation arranging the tables for the fika*. I had a great time, though Carl Michael first scared me half to death by sneaking up behind me and then stole my carrot cake. Okay, so I didn't want it, but still... *glares*

(* Note to Non-Swedes: Fika is a very important Swedish word that has no real English equivalent. Basically, it means "meeting up with one or more friends, drinking coffee or tea, eating something sweet or messy -- like apple pie or enormous sandwiches -- and discussing rather silly things for hours". It cannot be translated simply as "having coffee". It's much more... complicated and special. Really.)

Then it was time to meet up with the spex people to set up the stage for our show and do a final rehearse (or rather a first rehearse, on my part). We practiced, then deadened our nervousity with small doses (or in some cases, rather large doses) of alcoholic beverages, before it was time to enter the stage.
Now, I could say that our performance was absolutely brilliant, but then I'd probably lie. Sure, it was more than okay, but there were microphone problems and... other stuff.  BUT we had a great time and that is all that matters.)

After our performance we talked the people at the nation into giving us free entry to the night's concert, so I spent the rest of the evening dancing and listening to a band called Raymond & Maria. Then we ended up at a shabby fast food restaurant singing traditional technological student songs and throwing gloves at each other.
I got home at 4:30, rather exhilarated and very, very hungry.

To sum up: Today I have to write that essay I was supposed to have written during my "boring, uneventful weekend". Woe is me. =^^=
