Hey, so here's some excitement: guess who's got two thumbs and is having surgery on Tuesday! This guy.
Yeah. I went to the doctor yesterday to see about surgical options for getting rid of the cyst and ended up with appointments for a CAT scan today, a 2-hour pre-surgical dealie tomorrow, and surgery scheduled for noon on March 4th. Whee?
The reason the cyst came back, as a sports metaphor, kind of: if you suck all the air out of a basketball, it's smaller, but you've still got the basketball itself. Your body's instinct is to fill up any space with fluid, so my "basketball" refilled itself. Bah.
The surgery itself is supposed to take about two hours, and the doctor wants me to stay in the hospital overnight, which my wallet is *not* looking forward to, but they have to put a little drain in to keep the area from filling with fluid again, and I suppose I'd rather not have to deal with that at home. Then I'm taking the rest of the week of to recover, woot. I foresee a great deal of reading and progress on my Avatar blanket. I'll end up with a scar above my right clavicle, but it should fade and look sort of like the kind of crease you have in your neck, so that's not so bad.
Soooo, yes.
ETA: Oh my Jesus, you do not want to know how much the CT is going to run me, even after insurance. Good thing I just got my tax refund, eh?
