first week of police academy

 Since last Monday I have been down in Ada for police academy.  Right now we're getting introduced to lots of new material, so its meant that we've been stuck in a classroom for 10 hours every day-except for the first day, which was orientation and so it was only 5 hours plus the physical.

I'd still have a hard time being pro-death penalty even if I'd seen every possible horrible thing in the entire world, partially because I know there are people in jail that have been falsely imprisoned, and I'm of the opinion that people that horrible will be tortured more by being locked up forever than be being put to death.

As a cop, you will often see things that should rightly make a person enraged and horrified. As a detective, I see them every single day. There are over 100 homicides a year in my county -- that's two a week. There are twice that many people who are shot (or stabbed, molested, raped, beaten with a bat) who don't die. There are five times that many who are beaten black and blue and don't require any kind of hospital attention ( ... )
