Disjointed week

Jul 10, 2014 11:06

Yesterday I spent two hours in the dentist office getting my permanent crown put on, and then spent four hours sitting on my ass at the DMV getting my car registration and drivers license renewed. UGH. And today work is busy, and then tomorrow I have friends from my Art Institute days descending on me and I don't know what we'll do this weekend but I suspect it'll involve a lot of crawling around downtown DC doing touristy things.

In the meantime, despite having mostly been trapped in chairs yesterday, I have successfully crossed the Brandywine Bridge and entered Tookland, officially leaving Hobbiton. \o/ I'll take my small achievements where I can get them!

I also read the next in the YA Transformers Classified series, Battle Mountain. Despite the occasional clunkiness of being aimed at pre-teen kids, I continue to think that these are, overall, better written and with more respect and detail for the Cybertronians than anything else canon has given us, especially for things set in the movie-verse. (No, don't talk to me about MTMTE. I have a love/hate affair with it right now, where for everything they do that strikes me as right they turn around and do something else that makes me want to gag or pull my hair out. Roberts' writing ceased to be the apple of my eye sometime before the crossover with RiD happened, and it can't salvage the mess IDW has made overall. Canon for my fandom, in general, annoys the everloving crap out of me for all the kernels of interesting ideas that they then drop in favor of shit I could care less about.)

Hi, I'm a little boring right now? How's everyone else?
