aravistarkheena Kon surmised that he could write a book. The title would be Five Easy Steps to Cuddle Your Robin. Except that getting cuddle time with Tim was never easy, and he would never actually call it cuddle time out loud. He did have a rep to maintain. But there were times that Kon just wanted to hold Tim and more importantly Tim needed to be held - not that he would admit to it.
Tim being Tim though, he never made it easy. From what Kon was able to piece together, it was a combination of the general battiness that the batclan tended to have, the fact that Tim grew up pretty much by himself and didn't have any parent around long enough to show him that hugs were good, (Lord if you want your ear talked off, go up to Nightwing at a Titan's party when he's had a couple of beers and ask what Tim was like as a little kid - Dude bitter much?) and then there's the fact - the fact that gets Kon angry - that Tim doesn't think that he deserves to be hugged, that he's paying some penance for some unknown crime by not allowing anyone to touch him.
So there were steps to go through to get the much desired cuddle time. A tried and true plan that if followed properly got Kon the desired time alone with Tim
Step # 1: Get your Robin's attention
Robins by nature, have five billion things going on in their heads all at once. So it's very important that you get their attention.
“I am totally awesome,”Kon announced as he entered Tim's room and flopped on the bed. “Guess who nabbed the second highest score on the Titan's obstacle course.”
Tim paused from what he was typing on his laptop and looked at Kon. “Good going Kon. Bart's been number two for a while now.”
“Yeah I know. He's going to be so pissed that I passed him.” Kon stretched out on the bed for a moment. “You know though, I've always wondered how is it the guy on the team with no powers what so ever always seems to keep the top spot.”
Tim threw a smirk Kon's way. “Pure thoughts and clean living.”
“Clean living? In Gotham? Yeah right, I've breathed the air there Bird Boy,” Kon snorted.
Tim shrugged as he went back to his typing, “Maybe it's just the pure thoughts.”
“Your thoughts aren't all that pure,” Kon said with a smile that caused a slight blush to spread across Tim's cheeks.
For a while a comfortable silence fell over the boys as Tim typed and Kon basked in his own superior athleticism. Then Kon got up and made his way over to Tim's computer chair and leaned over it. “You know, there no one down at the course right now. We could see how your pure thoughts and clean living stack up against a half Kryptonian.”
“Kon as fun as it would be to feed your ego. I'm actually working here,” Tim said as he motioned to the computer screen.
“Like thats something new. Come on Tim, show me what ol' Batsy taught you about being a sidekick.” Kon said. “If your time good enough I'll let you be my sidekick.”
“Have you always had a deep seated need to ruin your own good days?” Tim said as he turned around to face Kon - giving up on getting any work done while Kon was in jock mode.
“Don't know. Haven't ruined one yet,” Kon said smiling. He pulled Tim out of his seat and toward the door. “Come on Tim. It's you and me and an obstacle course that would make a marine cry.”
“You always take me to the nicest places,” Tim said as he allowed an enthusiastic Boy of Steel drag him from his room.
Step # 2: Eliminate distractions
Once you have your Robin's attention you have to keep it. Make sure all other unfavorable distractions are kept at arms length, or you will find that your Robin will not be paying attention to what your trying to do.
Kon eagerly waited for Tim to come down from the control room. He had made certain that no one else would be using the course today. Raven, Bart, and Cassie were at the movies, Starfire was working in her garden, and Beast Boy and Cyborg were doing . . .well Kon thought it was best that somethings were left unknown. So it was just him and Tim and no interruptions.
The chirping of Tim's communicator brought a swear to Kon's lips as he hastily scooped it up from where he had left it with his cape and utility belt.
With a glance up to Tim Kon quickly turned it on and softly spoke into it. “Uh . . Hello?”
“Robin?” a voice asked.
Kon smiled and relaxed a little as he recognized Nightwing's voice. “Nah, it's Superboy Wing. What's up?”
“Superboy? Where's Robin?” Nightwing asked sounding confused.
“Well not here right now. Gotham's not going to blow up today is it?”
“What? No it's not going to blow up.” Nightwing said perplexed.
“Good. Uh, what did you need?” Kon asked, as he tried to come up with a way to end the conversation before Tim came back.
“Well I wanted to talk to Robin. Going to Salt Lake City for a job and wanted to see if he wanted to come. Where is he?”
“Well not here.”
“Yeah we pretty much established that. He went somewhere without his communicator?” a tint of worry entering Nightwing's voice.
“Yeah, wait I mean no. I mean he's with Cyborg - going over reports, lots of reports,” Kon said. Pretty much certain he sounded like the lamest person ever.
“He's with Cyborg? Well I guess I'll get with him later then. Nightwing out.”
“Yeah . . .Superboy out,” Kon said as he shut off the communicator.
“Did I hear my communicator go off?” Tim asked as he walked out of the control booth.
“No. I didn't hear anything.” Kon said with a straight face. Hoping Tim hadn't picked up detect lie or something like that.
Kon supposed he was going to catch nine levels of hell for blowing off Nightwing. He just couldn't bring himself to care though. This was his and Tim's time, and he wasn't going to allow even Nightwing to take Tim' attention off him.
Step # 3: Tempt him
Give him something to think about, show him what he could be missing.
Hot steam swirled around Kon as he washed off the sweat and grim from the work out. He stood under the shower spray, letting the hot water wash over him. Every once and while he's let out a contented moan. Kon would rock up on the balls of his feet, stretch out against the tile of the shower stall, arch his back, and shake whatever water fell in his eyes.
And all the while he could feel Tim's eyes on him. Of course Tim would never let Kon catch him watching. But Tim was never more obvious when watching Kon in the shower. Usually Tim was relaxed and talkative after their work outs - usually he was talkative about what could have gone better during the work out - but still talkative. When Tim watched Kon though he would get quiet, and would look at anything but Kon. That didn't mean though that Kon couldn't tell that Tim was watching him. He could hear Tim's heartbeat speed up and made contented, quiet little moans that went unheard under the spray of the shower - unless of course you had super hearing.
So Kon had no problem putting on a little show for his Bird Boy. He stretched and bent over, all the while making sure Tim had a nice view. Tim's pounding heartbeat music to Kon's ears.
Step # 4: Ease into the physical contact
Carefully initiate contact. Moving to fast will only have your Robin backing off and all your hard work will go down the drain.
Tim moved stiffly as he toweled off and pulled on his boxer shorts. Though running the obstacle course had been fun, Tim did end up getting banged up, and on top of previous injuries made him stiff and sore. Kon rolled his eyes as he grabbed a bottle of lotion and walked over to Tim. “Sit, let me work out the kinks.”
Tim shook his head as he grabbed for some sweat pants, “I'm fine really.”
Kon just sighed as one who had heard the same argument one too many times and simply wrapped an arm around Tim's shoulders and guided him to the bench to sit down. “Sure, and thats why you're moving around like 'the Geriatric Wonder' instead of 'the Boy Wonder.' If Cyborg sees you walking around like you are, he's going to blame me.”
“So this isn't about any real concern for me, but saving your own skin,” Tim said with a smile.
“Pretty much,” Kon answered as he poured some lotion into the palm of his hand and started massaging Tim's shoulders. Kon's fingers carefully worked out the knots in Tim's shoulders, slowly moving down Tim's back and down his arms, smiling all the while as he watched Tim slowly, almost reluctantly, relaxed underneath Kon's hands.
“Would it really kill you to ask for a back rub?” Kon asked.
“It might. Spontaneous combustion isn't as rare as you might think.”
“Very funny,” Kon said as he dug his fingers a little harder into a particularly stubborn knot. “Seriously Tim, you know I have no problem with doing anything to help out.”
“Oh? You're going to come to Gotham every night to give me a back rub?” Tim asked as he craned his neck around to look at Kon.
“If that's what you need then sure,” Kon said with a shrug.
“And face Batman on a daily basis?”Tim said with a smile.
“He doesn't scare me - too much.”
Tim laughed and leaned back against Kon's chest. He didn't even tense a little when Kon wrapped his arms around Tim's waist. If anything Tim leaned further into the embrace.
Step # 5: Cuddle your Robin to your heart's content
If you've done all the steps right your Robin should be open and compliant for the full on cuddle. Robins are stubborn birds and need be shown the positive aspect of the cuddle.
Later that night found Kon and Tim stretched out on Kon's bed. Tim's head pillowed on Kon's chest. One of Kon's arms were wrapped around Tim's waist, his other hand rubbing soothing circles on Tim's back. A sci-fi flick with B-list actors played on Kon's TV, but neither Kon and Tim paid attention to it.
Every once in a while Tim would sigh softly, but other than that neither felt the need to speak. Kon buried his face in Tim's hair, he ran his TTK up and down Tim's body, petting and pulling Tim closer - determined to hold Tim as close as possible.
Kon's steps to get a chance to cuddle with Tim were hardly easy, but the reward of having Tim in his arms more than made up for all the hoops he had to jump through for a chance to be with his Wonder Boy.
