Hiya! I finally got on web again, so I decided to write my travel log in digital form.
Monday
07.30 AM This is when we were told to wake up. We had breakfast and packed the one or two things still missing from the bags. Our family is not known for being in places at the correct time but this morning we actually managed to get in the car before 9, right according to mom's plan.
10.00 AM The drive from Turku to Helsinki is a long one so we had to make a guick stop at a café after about half of the way.
11.30 AM When we arrived in Helsinki, our first stop was of course the amusement park: Linnanmäki. At the amusement park I played Dancing Stage for the first time ever. I was the one who insisted on a game. My simblings were a bit reluctant to play with me but finally they decided to play. The first two rounds were against my older sister. I won the first and she won the second. The third round was against my little brother, and since he had never played before he lost pretty easily. The overall points were also in my favor. We also tried the "Onnenveto" game. It was simple; you pull at a rope and win something. It's pretty much about luck what you get. I won a yellow dog plushie(that I am NOT going to call Jounouchi).
03.30-05.00 PM Dinner time. We stopped at a gas station to eat some barbecued pig and cream potatoes. It actually tasted guite nice. After eating we went back to the amusement park.
09.00 PM At this point we were all spent, tired and hungry again so we went to our hotel. We managed to get to bed at 11.30 PM.
Tuesday
07.30 AM We woke up and had breakfast at the hotel restaurant one hour later.
10.15 AM We took off to the zoo Korkeasaari. We spent three hours wandering around and checking out all the animals. My little brother was a tad bit disappointed in the trip. He would have wanted to see a huge animal. Some twelveyear-olds have the strangest ideas... My personal favorite was the tiger. It was the only lively catbeast; it kept trodding around in it's cage, not that it didn't have room for it. The lions were also quite entertaining in their own sleepy way. After we'd had enough of the zoo(actually, our feet were hurting too much to continue) we returned back to the hotel where we pretty much spent the whole day reading some manga we had packed in our bags. Me and my sister read some Detective Conan while our brother introduced himself to Ranma ½.
09.00 PM Mile High came from TV. My interest isn't as high as it used to be but I still watch the series. My sister, on the other hand, is still a fan. We got to bed right after show ended, around 10.
Wednesday
07.00 AM At Wednesday we had to wake up a bit earlier, since that was the day we would be leaving Helsinki. We ate breakfast around 7 and 8 and we were actually in the car and leaving the city at 9.
10.10 AM We stopped at the Lieto jumping tower. It's a skijumping tower that's open around the year for both jumpers and observers. Yes, there are people in Finland that skijump even in the middle of the summer. We hung around the tower for a while, watching the jumpers and grabbing a drink. We moved on around 11.
11.30 AM We arrived in Vääksy and went to see the canal. We arrived just in time to see a boat pass through and we got to see how the canal worked. We also went to check out the souvenir shop. Not only was the stuff expensive, it also had nothing to do with the spot we were at. Me and my sister decided to check out the upper floor and I got really scared. You see, the house was incredibly old and the floors creaked. The whole time I was up there I thought I would sink through the floor. We got back in the car at 12.
01.00-01.25 We had lunch on a rest point by the road. It was a really windy day and we were pretty much freezing the whole while we ate our sandwiches.
04.30 PM We arrived in Jyväskylä after a few stops on the way. We went to visit a couple of factory shops. From a glass factory shop mom found some neat new glass ornaments. She simply loves those. After that we stopped at a sweet factory shop, where we bought tons of chocolate. Everyone in our family loves chocolate. When we arrived in Jyväskylä we immediately went to our hotel to get settled in a bit. We left the hotel around 5 to find a place to eat. We finally got some food at 7 and got back to the hotel before 8.
10.30 PM We went to bed.
Thursday
07.00 AM Waking up, breakfast at 8.
10.30 AM We left for the Tuuri store. It's an incredibly large shopping arcade in the middle of nowhere. It took us an hour and a half to get there. We were shopping for four hours, which is more than I usually shop in a year and I'm not kidding with this; I hate shopping. After we left Tuuri we were off to a hotel, also in the middle of nowhere, to get a swim. We all needed it after the shopping trip. Unfortunately we got lost on the way there. The water at the hotel spa was really warm, +30 C. After the swim we left to get something to eat and to drive back to our own hotel. We ate around 8 and were in bed after 12.
Friday
08.00 AM We got up and had breakfast 8.30.
10.00 AM We took off. It took a while to get everything into the car, since mom had bought a lot of souvenirs and we all had a lot of new clothes form Tuuri. First we thought to go see some sights before going home, so our trip back to Turku got a bit longer.
04.00 PM Arrival in Turku. We had to stop by at a convenience store to get some food, since we didn't have any back home.
05.00 PM We're finally home. The fact that it was pouring got us to unload the car pretty fast.
