Dragon*Con 2010 - Part 2

Sep 10, 2010 05:49

Saturday came and one of the first things I did was to acquire a Starfleet uniform and a tribble. I also bought a resin phaser and PPG that need to be assembled and painted. That should be a fun project in the next few weeks.

But I'm getting side tracked. After the brief shopping spree, there was a q&a session with the actors that played Chancellor Gowron and and General Martok in Star Trek.

They put on a bit of a show...

Yes. They really did show up in costume!

He took the phone off someone in the audience and answered it in character.

Following that, I headed over to the Hyatt to catch a screening of a short film featuring Claudia Christian. It was called Jesus Comes to Town and is about some people playing poker when Jesus shows up and joins in the game. Very funny, not sure how it will be made available. The other films in the reel were entertaining too.

I also tried to meet Summer Glau but her queue was so long they were advising people to come back the next day.

It was at that point I discovered there were more dealers rooms and the timing was perfect. One of the stalls was selling various comics and graphic novels. They had one copy of the complete comic adaption of the Thrawn Trilogy which I bought for $10. And at a book stall, not that far away, Timothy Zahn was doing a signing session. He didn't have a queue, so not only did he sign the just bought graphic novel, I got to talk to him for about 10 minutes or so. He's one of my favourite authors, so that was definitely a big moment.

After dinner, I spotted Aaron Douglas outside the restaurant. He was there having a drink, mixing with fans, so like the other BSG cast members the previous day, showed him my parody video.

Then in the evening it was time for the second machinima screenings, comedy this time. On the way over I ran into barbiejedi dressed as Leliana from Dragonage. It seems like each time I was going to attend a screening, there were Bioware themed costumes ;)

Leliana was one of my favourite characters in the game.

That's it for day two. The tribble attracted alot of attention from people. It's supposed to make a noise when someone claps nearby but mine is apparently very sensitive and it would not stop once it got started!
