So, on Thursday, after trial and our daily all-hands debriefing meeting, it looked like I would have about an hour or two free.
One of the paralegals (whose schedule is much like mine) wanted to run to a local Wine store she knew about and pick up some selections, so I offered to go with her.
The Wine Store was in a little corner shopping center called "Independence Mall" so we got a taxi and told him that's where we were going.
After shopping for wine (she did all the shopping... I know nothing about wines) and we were waiting for the cab to come back, I noticed a plaque on the wall inidcating the building was the location of the first U.S. Supreme Court in 1797.
"Wow... That's cool. Hey, lets walk around this mall and look at the other plaques."
When we got to the center building, the one with a large bell tower at the top, I read the plaque:

Turns out we were standing in front of the building where the First Continental Congress met in 1776, drafted, and signed the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation.
Okay... "Independence Mall"... I get it now.
It was WAY COOL that we were standing on such historic ground... but kinda sad that it had been turned into a mixed retail/office space center.
[Edit: As
mauser pointed out, the REAL Independence Hall is in Philadelphia. I've been duped.]
