First Off, for those not in the know (and my best friend of 17 years, slabgar and others here can back me up) although I look hard-core Dark Wave, and in part I am, I am also a Beatles loving, Pink Floyd daydreaming, Anti-Gun, Anti-War Peacenic/Hippie ( Read more... )

The thing that troubles me the most is, why didn't we ask all these questions ten years ago?

Did we subsequently learn from our awesomely stupid mistake?

Were we just too close at the time to the events of 9/11/01 for such questions to be asked?

Or was it because we inherently trusted the scion of a Republican political dynasty but the same "we" people don't trust the black guy?

I think I know the answer, but I welcome discussion about it.

I'm can only guess too but.....

The asshole Vacation President prick that lied, stole the PRESIDENCY and looked DUMBfounded on 9/11 wasn't questioned. He just pointed to a map willy nilly and it's like he said "I think we should send boys to die there, Daddy, what do ya think??"

I just can't be reasonable. I am the protest QUEEN but the people protesting now are acting so fucking ignorant and their blinders might as well say "not my problem" on them.

I am NOT an American...I am NOT a Brit...I am not Canadian..I am not French...I am NOT Syrian. I am a member of the HUMAN RACE and a citizen of the PLANET EARTH so this IS MY BUSINESS.

We never learn from the awesomely stupid mistakes when it comes from war; we just make the opposite awesomely stupid mistake. WWII didn't happen just because of Hitler. It happened because the rest of the world was so devoted to peace at all costs that they thought that not going to war would fix the mistake of rushing into war.

The thing is that every war could be a Vietnam. But every "it's not our problem" approach to war could be a Holocaust or a Serbian genocide.

Exactly, my brother!!

Once again you sum up my rambling feelings in a nice condensed paragraph.

First off, wow, you kick some major ass. I wasn't that politically minded when I was young, despite being mature for my age. Good for you!!

I'm not American, I'm Canadian, and currently living in Italy, so I'm out of the loop of American politics to some extent. I think you make a valid point. I don't know how to feel, except I feel horrible for the people in Syria, and agree something must be done. I just wish there was another way, but there probably isn't :(

The REAL DEAL- Adopt-A-Friend was a gay (and friends of LGBT) run and operated charity shop. Back then, when gay men had HIV or Aids, their families didn't understand that it wasn't their fault and they were shunned...so often I could cry remembering..and even my mum's therapy could't repair families 'in time ( ... )
