OK, the geeks shall inherit another spot on this blog.
And I quote, from a neighboring LJ:
******
So the other night, Jen and I were hanging out with most of the members of an a cappella group from CalTech,
Fluid Dynamics
...
At one point in the conversation, we were talking about playing games or something along those lines. I don't remember how the conversation flowed exactly, but it somehow came out that Jen and I met indirectly through AOKP. For my newer readers, AOKP is a LARP (Live Action Role Playing Game).
The members of [Caltech[ Fluid Dynamics declared that we're geekier than they are. They literally bowed to our geekiness.
I think this may very well make us geek royalty. And we couldn't be more proud. =)

Basically, this illustrates the idea of an infinite geek hierarchy - even bonafide geeks will always recognize some activity that is more refined than, or beyond, their geekiness, if even begrudgingly - to do otherwise would be gauche.
People have recently theorized the possibility of a Cantor set construction on the line of geekiness, suggesting a sophisticated structure to an otherwise oft-demeaned but seldom-studied institution.
And to pre-empt the inevitable question, No, I'm in the
other a cappella group. And yes, we will update our website... (goes off to bug the webmaster).
