ACM 95B, ordinary differential equations - this was the first final at Caltech where I didn't know how to start almost all the problems on the set. It felt like I was back at camp, and nowhere near as prepared as I should be. I'm so glad that I did the homeworks and didn't rely on 50-50. But now I feel really bad for those people who are going in less prepared. This could be ugly. I pulled out a lot of hair for this exam.
It's good to be humbled sometimes.
On the plus side, Bing got some guys and gals from CCF to go to Zuma Beach this afternoon in the middle of finals week, no small feat. We underestimated how windy it would be. Playing beach volleyball was tough, to say the least - the wind blew almost all the digs away from the net, and we could barely get a point to go back over the net off the serve. We spent most of the time eating dinner and huddling together for warmth. I brought my guitar and couldn't let it go to waste there, so we sang a few songs in the blustery winds. My hand went numb and I felt like I would either cramp my fingers or get minor frostbite. But still, it felt strangely good, to praise in the bad weather and spite it.
I like sunsets on the beach.
