janked from Xanga.
'Twas an enjoyable day today. For Decompression, which is a barbeque that the Caltech Y sponsors and volunteers for, On A Different Note, this all-female group from Drew University, came to sing with us to provide entertainment. They came early, so we warmed up together and then sang a song for each other. Afterwards, we came out and opened w/ Shame and Scandal. It felt rushed, but it sounded alright. Andrew always makes me smile with his 'I love you, girl... Ahhh!!! you're my sister???" expression. =}
OADN sang a great set. Their first song sounded good but was hurting because the ambient mikes were too far to pick them up. But since we had eight mikes and there were only seven from OADN, we actually miked the whole group individually, and it turned out awesome. I really liked "Ladyfingers", and "Wouldn't It Be Nice." - I thought the choral rendition of the 3rd song sounded beautiful, but I can't remember the song =P. The percussionist (whose name I forgot, oops) for "Ladyfingers" sounded so sharp I thought she was a guy, she had great technique off the mike, and she said she had never used it before - I was amazed. They even gave an encore, although it wasn't "It's Raining Men", much to Deepak's dismay.
After we closed with Addicted (which was my solo, and didn't totally suck, yay) we just talked for a little bit. They wanted to borrow some of our bassy guys. =] Sadly, they didn't want to stay too long because some of their members felt sick. >_< Oh well. It was still awesome to hear them, and I'm going to pop their CD as soon as I get back to Lloyd.
