Well, I wish I could say that the holidays were all fun and exciting, but, just like almost every other year with my extended family, there was drama...a LOT of drama. Basically, we don't exchange gifts in the traditional sense anymore...it's simply too expensive. So we have a $20 grab bag, and we've done this for the past few years. I'm not going to go into the rule structure of the grab bag, but let's just say that the rules are simple in theory, but as difficult as finding real talent on MTV. (I don't know where that came from, so don't ask) Anyway, my uncle, the one who had the double lung transplant about a year ago, decided that he was going to be "funny" and try and make things complicated. And by "funny", I mean that he likes to think he's being funny, but in reality just makes everyone uncomfortable. He's also the type of person who can dish it out, but cannot take it...think spoiled 9 year-old brat. Long story short, the jokes turned to him, (mostly about his crappy grab-bag gift, that I ended up with) he freaks out, yells, 'This family is going to shit!' grabs his coat, and tells his girlfriend that they're leaving. My aunt starts to get really upset over this, so my cousin calls him an asshole...really loud. I wanted to call him a fucking douche bag, but I restrained myself. I'm tired of his bullshit, and I know the rest of my family is, too. So after he storms out and everyone calms down, I suggest that we simply do not invite him to family gatherings anymore. (He tends to pull this same act at every one of them) I think they were all a little shocked at my suggestion, but my gut tells me they are seriously considering it. BTW, I did return the gift and got a remote control helicopter..one of those cheap ones you see at Target; great fun messing with the cat!
I'm still working at Casual Male XL, which is one of the most unfulfilling jobs I have ever worked. Yes, it more or less pays the bills, but it simply sucks. When you get yelled at because we don't carry anything bigger than 6X, trust me...it's VERY hard to tell the person to put down the 3rd cheeseburger and maybe think twice on their 4th trip to the buffet. Ironically, there IS a buffet like 3 doors down from the store...coincidence? I did have an interview at 4am this morning for FedEx as a package handler; I was told I was hired pending a background check. The shifts are only like 3 hours long, but the guy I interviewed with says the pay is like $10.50 an hour, since it's overnight. I know this will take a lot of adjusting, but I like the idea of a three hour workout every night. We'll have to see how that goes.
I know there was other stuff I wanted to post in here, but I've been up since 3:30am, and I'm simply too tired to think right now...thinking I might have to go lay down now...
