jobless m0f0 no more! ^_^
Yeah, finally an LJ post from me since like last November. :P
After being RIF'd from my old job last October, and deciding to live on severance payments and savings while taking care of my mom, who went on disability 2 months before I lost my job, I will finally be employed again. I start my new position this monday, and I'll be doing Network Operation Centre stuph again. But this time, the place is building a brand-new NOC from the ground-up. Literally right now, all they have is an old conference room with for large plasma displays mounted on the walls. They're still ordering furniture, etc so being on the actual beginning of setting up a NOC should be an interesting experience.
There seems to be some confusion on what my duties will be at the moment. My boss is the head of their helpdesk, rather than the Network engineering manager. I think that the boss doesn't really have a solid idea what it will take to get a NOC going. But I'm just going to ease into things initially, and be a good boy until any bumps are smoothed out, and I can do what needs to be done to make the place a viable and proper activity.
Oh yeah, and the biggest downside is the dress code there is "business professional" - shirt and tie, no jacket. They seem to want to make this a showplace fishbowl NOC. Oh well, like I said, it's a decent job with decent pay and bennies for a stable company. I'll be a good boy and do as I'm told so there won't be any problems.
It'll be nice to not have to worry how I'll be able to pay bills, and to be able to actually afford to buy things that are FUN again. My DVD purchasing backlog is abyssmal at the moment, too. -_-
Oh yeah, and this means that once I get some monies saved up, and my work schedule is actually established - it's time for DS' Canadian Invasions to happen again. Yes, that means I plan to go see both Riki and Kwan again (YAY!) and invade the London Crew's turf so they can once again show me what real beer is like. And perhaps get revenge on the billiards table. :P
