Storm Warnings

Jan 27, 2009 12:39

Snow is expected to over spread the region from southwest to northeast between 4 am and 8 am Wednesday morning. Once the snow begins, it may fall heavily at times during the morning. Snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour will be possible during the morning. The snow will quickly accumulate on roadways resulting in poor visibilities and hazardous travel.

The snow will begin during the rush hour so it will have an impact on the morning commute everywhere.

The potential continues for 4 to 7 inches of snow. The best chance of the higher amounts will be closest to the Massachusetts turnpike. It does appear that enough warm mid level air will come into areas south of the Massachusetts turnpike to result in a change to rain across. A tenth to one quarter inch of ice accretion is possible on top of the snow.

Anyone traveling on Wednesday should be prepared for rapidly deteriorating conditions with snow covered roadways and poor visibilities.
