According to the front page of yesterday's Spokesman Review, Governor Dirk Kempthorne of Idaho is the top pick to replace Whitman as the head of the EPA. That's like appointing Enron Execs as secretaries of the national treasury. Kempthorne tried to get the EPA to leave Idaho and ignore the lead deposits from mining waste in the Silver Valley (

That's the first time I've ever heard "Idaho" and "environmental protection" in the same sentence.

That's like declaring Alabama the cultural and sophistication capital of the country

HAHAHAHAHAHA! My Mother came from Alabama. I don't think she aquired any sophistication until after she moved north.

Oh Lord, say it's not so. I can see it now, Kempthorne will be promoting mutated fish with three eyes as the new pet for third graders, as a way to profit from the wildlife he will end up damaging.
