They say that the universe is ininite. Alright - well, they also say it's got a shape -- something like an egg, only both ends are the same size and shape. Darnit! If a 3D circle is a sphere, then what's a 3D oval?
Anyway, you get the picture.
So let's imagine that the universe is that shape. Go ahead and draw an oval on a piece of paper, if it helps. Because the universe is really in four dimensions, and it's the fourth one we're going to be looking at, although it's going to be simulated in two.
Which is basically my explanation for why the planes of the universe are the same size and shape as the universe even though they're technically only pieces of the universe. Yes, it's confusing. I know.
Alright, let's all draw an oval.
This is a cross-section of the universe.
Imagine that the universe is cut up into lots and lots and lots of little slices... an infinate number of slices. I'm going to represent it thus:
The slices are a lot thinner or a lot thicker, or whatever you want them to be. They're this size on mine because that was the default duplication distance. Since we're using lines to represent something completely metaphorical, it doesn't really matter.
Now, in between each of those lines is a plane of existence.
I've sort of numbered the planes. The 'n' represents the number that's halfway between 1 and infinity. Don't ask me what it is. Nobody knows.
But as I was saying before, this is really a representation of a fourth dimension, if you care to think about it that way. The universe is of an infinate size, and it is made up of an infinate number of planes, each the size and shape of the universe. It's possible, if one knows how, to travel from plane to plane, but what's really neat about it all is that since there's an infinate number of planes, everything that we've thought of possibly happening does happen.
That's right! On one plane (possibly right now, maybe not) Xelloss got ripped apart by Gaav because he wouldn't spill a secret. On another plane, five boys fight for the colonies. On another, Weiß and Schwarz work together to take out the remaining nasty-bits involved in ß (Esset, or Este).
Not only does that happen, but all the fanfiction ideas are out there, too. On another plane, possibly close to the first, Gaav goes to rip Xelloss apart but Valgaav takes his place. If the five boys somehow crossed the planes, they might run into themselves - with curses, hanging out with the ghost of Ranma Saotome. And if Schuldich the telepath has red hair in the first scenario... well, he might have green hair like in the manga elsewhere. Somewhere out there, in the planes, Bösen Blick exists - the assassins turned guardians who keep the world of Blau from spilling over. Somewhere else, Sylph, the phoenix goddess, balances things between her job, her husband, and her half-mortal son. On another plane, what the inhabitants call 'the universe' has a pretty twisted sense of humor and occasionally intervenes -- combining a schoolgirl with all the female characters she ever has or will create, thus bringing about Kerry Sullivan, the Planes Traveller, the Wandering Storyteller (more on her another time).
Somewhere out there, all of my dreams and ideas come true, are real, really happen.
And this is where we get to my other name - my writing name - because S'revan is the Kerry Sullivan of this plane -- the personalities and the stories and the experience and the knowledge that comes into my mind and out through my hands and voice and reflects what is really real.
Because S'revan is me.
And I am the Secret part of Nature's Secrets Studios.
