I just saw a van parked in front of my office building belonging to an auto glass repair place. Among other things written on the van, I couldn't help but notice:

Who is this Leak character and what of his are they guaranteeing against? I want to know!

Ah, this is worse than the "is is" annoyance. How hard is it to just remember that if it's in question, leaving out an apostrophe where it is needed is much better than putting one in where it is not needed. (e.g. the name S'hawn.)

Though my personal enemy is far more insidious. English makes the distinction between singular and plural. Even journalists and language "professionals" get it wrong these days! "What is thems?" is just wrong on so many levels. And it's especially annoying when it makes the statement ambiguous, such as "The coffee are hot."
