M.C. Escher was a graphic artist who was kind of obssessed with this idea of the divison of planes. Yes, you're right, he was also deeply interested in the idea of impossible objects. I couldn't give you a clear explanation as to why -- since we're still doing our reading and whatnot -- but yes, he produced some prints that involved impossible figures such as the Penrose staircase and that wonky twisted cube that was translated into some impossible architecture.
He did not, however, create that figure that so many of us call the Impossible Trident. He just...didn't. I don't care how sure you are. Escher was kind of a rockstar artist in his day, I guess, and exposed a lot of people to these optical illusions. He didn't come up with that figure, though. He didn't design my tattoo. Insisting that I'm wrong about this doesn't make you smarter than me. Insisting that I'm wrong about this actually makes you look like a dumbass.
