In far hopes...

Here lies my hopes for the coming year. I found it befitting to post something like this other than another asinine, debate-inducing ramble brewing up in the far corner of my mind. Forgive my prudence if you must, this is for the peace of mind I'm longing after another dose of the "new system".

This is when I sound like a highschooler writing a lame essay just to get a decent grade in english.

I'm gonna start real boring, cliche'd, and somewhat stupid by wishing for world peace, an end to conflict, corruption, and evil in general. I hope 2009 will bring an end to the world financial crisis and bring forth a solution to global warming.I hope the world will realize what it has done in the past and start working for a brighter tomorrow. I hope my prayers muttered every night would be answered, and generally make the ideal world we all want it to be. But we all know those are farfetched dreams floating in our reality... They are fleeting, almost intangible things that are better left to the greatest of men and the decisions of fate to start and the rest of humanity to operate upon.

I hope that the ideals of many be met, but I also want the proponents and visionaries see the fallacies in their ideas show in order to improve, and in turn lead others to their goal. I hope that the system becomes less high and mighty, I hope that the general populace of the said system respect others in their interests and bash them less, if not completely stop their prejudice (which is ironic, since they advocate against prejudice itself). I hope for less bias, less indifference and less strife among the ranks fighting for their freedom.

Now it gets serious. This is what I really want for this year. I want to get past the remainder of my second year at the University, hopefully get it to the Dean's List, and to have better relations with my peers. I hope that this year will bring forth improvements to the University which would mean improvements to the country. I hope the road will be less thorny, but rough nonetheless; none of us have learned without mistakes. I hope this year will bring about my first taste of romance (haha), and be absolutely better than next year.

The world continues to turn and humanity continues to hope. For that is what remains in the mythical pandora's box unleashed millenia ago. Hope is never completely extinguished, and it is what drives people. Hope is the foundation underneath the best of ideals and the most genuine of concerns. Hope is what keeps those in the dark searching for the light, to keep fighting and to not succumb to the crushing weight of the world's sins. Though it is true that hope drives men mad and leads them astray, it is the proper administration of this essential object that keeps the spark of life burning, the sun in our souls shining, and ultimately, the moon and stars that will accompany us in our darkest moments.

The best thing about hoping is that unlike wishing, it is feasible, accessable, doable. Those who have lost it will eventually find it again in the strangest of circumstances.

But then again, hope is not enough. It is only the first step. If hope is the spark, then will is the fuel that will drive us towards our goals and ideals. And sadly, because it is merely the fuel, it should not be lost to the existing pain eating it, extinguishing our drive and smothering the shine our dear hopes...

But from dreams it started... so shall it be reborn from dreams.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
~1 Peter 5:6-7
