Title
Patton Oswalt's comedy special "My Weakness is Strong" surprised me by being absolutely hilarious. Check it out.

Movies
9
I've been hearing a lot of mixed reviews about 9, so I finally got out and saw it. It's very stylish and gorgeous to look at. Being an art student, I enjoyed it probably more than most if only from an artistic/design standpoint. I especially liked the designs for the machines (the thing with the baby face creeped me the hell out), and I liked the scale of it (i.e., they used things like exacto blades and kitchen knives as weapons).

The movie had a lot of potential, but didn't really kick in like it could have. There wasn't much to the plot. I feel like it may have been better done as a comic book, rather than a movie. It had a lot of great ideas (the machine that builds things to emulate itself out of whatever it finds), but the plot didn't seem to branch out like I was expecting. I wasn't really disappointed by it, but I didn't have any expectations of it.

Overall, it wasn't great, but wasn't terrible either. If you've seen all the other great movies out right now, check it out.

Grade: C+

Corpse Bride
Yes, I just now saw it. Let me first say, the leaps in claymation technology are AMAZING. This movie was gorgeously done, keeping the roots of old school Tim Burton claymation, but taking advantage of new technologies.

The characters meant to be likable were easy to empathize with, thanks to Tim Burton's innate gift for characterization. Victor is adorable and klutzy, and his heart easily goes out to Victoria (his living fiancée by way of arranged marriage) and Emily (the corpse bride he marries accidentally). It would be easy to be belligerent and uncooperative in his situation, but after the initial shock, he has everyone's best interest at heart, which I admired.

Basically, it's everything you'd expect from Tim Burton. Gorgeous visuals, catchy songs and lovable characters.

Grade: A

TV

King of the Hill
It's over. :( I watched the season finale and was terribly sad to see it go. It was a great finale, but I really loved that show. I think it's one of those things you appreciate more as you get older, because it gets funnier to me every year. Yet another reason I'm so broken up about it being over, because I feel like it was one of those things you grow up with that you think could never go away until it does. :( Waaah. I'll always have syndication, I suppose.

One episode snap judgments
Modern Family
I watched this on hulu out of boredom, and was pleasantly surprised. It's unexpectedly funny and touching. There's not a whole lot to say about it, as there's just the one episode so far. But, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Watching the next episode? Most likely.

FlashForward
This show has some fantastic production values, let me say. The utter pandemonium of the flash forward is brilliantly showcased. The first episode jumps around a lot, and is confusing at points. But, it's acted out wonderfully, and has a lot of potential. And, yes, I kinda love John Cho, shush. It's a very interesting concept, and the end of the pilot is pretty mind blowing, with enough cliff hangers to get me to stick around.

Watching the next episode? For sure.

This is here because the Dr.Horrible sequel has been CONFIRMED! I would say I'm irrationally excited, but you can never be too excited for anything involving Joss Whedon, NPH and Nathan Fillion. Or, at least, I can't.

Pictures
The theme today is hot guys with kittens!

David Tennant AKA the Tenth Doctor with a kitten!

Zachary Quinto AKA Sylar with a kitten!

Stuff I'm really excited about
The Invention of Lying
New comedy by Ricky Gervais starring him, Jennifer Garner, Rob Lowe and Tina Fey? YES PLEASE.

Zombieland
ZOMBIES! And Woody Harrelson! AND ZOMBIES!

Capitalism: A Love Story
I'll admit, I think Michael Moore is brilliant. A complete blowhard sometimes, but brilliant. He asks questions that need to be asked, and people NEED to ask more questions about the bailout.

All of those movies come out this weekend!

Princess and the Frog
This is most likely going to be on this list until it comes out. Disney return to 2-D animation, plus Keith David voicing the villain and SINGING? Yes, please!

Three words: Jackie. Earle. Haley. So much win in this trailer.

Again, Dr.Horrible sequel! And, the first one got an Emmy!

V

I was first interested in V because I happen to have a huge girl-crush on Morena Baccarin, thanks to Firefly. Then I watched that trailer, and flashed back to my days as a little girl hiding away in the basement to watch UFO documentaries. They scared the bajeezus out of me, but I was so intrigued, I couldn't stay away. I have a penchant for anything involving aliens, so I'm super excited for this to premiere.

I recently played through Beatles: Rock Band, and have been on kind of a Beatles kick since then. Have you seen the trailer for this game?

Amazing. <3

Today's hotness

Sharlto Copley AKA Wikus Van Der Merwe in District 9. Best breakout role in recent memory, aside from Chris Pine.

Haha, I love Toby. I'm glad he's getting more screen time. <3
