Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy.

I wanted to start actually trying to post here more often, so I figured a good way was to start reviewing some stuff. Forewarning, there may be spoilers.

TitleI'd like to think that's not too far off from what Simon actually wrote. Gotta love Jayne. Title is from Firefly.

Movies
+Jennifer's Body

I saw this movie on 5-dolla Tuesday, so I wouldn't feel too terrible if it sucked hard like I thought it would. I have a deep hatred for Megan Fox and everything she stands for (that being, everything wrong with Hollywood). Surprisingly, I actually wasn't altogether disappointed.

To the movie's eternal credit, it wasn't just an excuse for Fox to get naked, which she doesn't. So, if that's your reasoning for seeing this movie, you'll be disappointed. Megan Fox actually wasn't around all that much, and gave room for Amanda Seyfried to shine. Seyfried acted her ass off in this movie, and it shows. I empathized with her character, as she had to watch her friend turn into this horrifying monster, which I imagine is more than a little traumatic.

Aside from Seyfried, I thought the creep factor was well done, and there were some genuinely chilling scenes. The first time Jennifer shows up at her house in full on demonic possession mode was pretty freaky, and I loved the effect of the black goop that she pukes up.

Along with Needy (Seyfried), I loved the lead singer from the band Low Shoulder. He was a bit whimsical in the brainpan, and I lost it when he broke into singing 8675309 at the most inappropriate moment. And, he's gorgeous, so that's a plus.

My one major issue with the movie is most of the dialogue on Fox's part. I realized after the movie it was written by Diablo Cody (Juno), and it made a lot more sense. But, really, Jen talked like she was freaking 12, not 16-18 as the movie suggests. I dunno if Diablo talks like that, and is trying to get her nigh elementary-level phrases to permeate our everyday vernacular, but it's not going to happen. Not when they're so painfully stupid and forced.

Overall, though, it was a good movie, and it had a great soundtrack.

TV
+Glee, episode 3

For the record, I adore this show. Everyone on the show can sing better than half the so-called pop stars nowadays (I'm looking at you, Miley). I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I do, as I usually hate high-school students (both on and off screen), but they manage to make them likable. Oddly enough, my favorite character (aside from Mr. Schuester) is Finn, the quarterback.

In this episode, both Finn and Kurt managed to tug my heartstrings. Finn finds out his girlfriend is pregnant, and says he'll do everything to make sure he doesn't turn into a deadbeat like his father. Kurt finally comes out to his father, and his reaction was "I know. It's okay. I still love you." Bawww, it was really touching.

Here's some examples of the exemplary performances you're missing if you're not watching this show.

Gold Digger (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

Bust Your Windows (Glee Cast Version) - Glee Cast

That's all for now.
