Wexford Of course, the Wiki article doesn't tell you everything, such as the fact that the Templars used Wexford (or, to be more exact, Ferrycarrig which is just outside/kind of on the town boundries) as a harbour and base of operations on the East coast of Ireland.
I also admit to being slightly sad at the news that there's now a Tesco's, an Argos and a Superdrug in the town as well. That really jars with my childhood memories of the town where practically none of the shops were ones I recognised from England. Hopefully, though, they still have a 'Burger Mac' and not a McDonalds though ('Burger Mac' being a kind of Irish version of McDonalds, which had the unusual (to me anyway) practice of putting Thousand Island Dressing on the burgers).
I'm also glad to hear they've refurbished Selskar Abbey. On the other hand, I may never get over them turning the Crescent Quay and the rest of the Quayside into a Marina. Again, it just jars with my childhood memories of walking along the old wooden boards next to lines of battered but still in service fishing boats, while in the river dozens of little boats bobbed up and down. Now, apparently, it's got a much more 'touristy' feel - which means, of course, that it's been 'prettified'. Bah.
I really need to visit again sometime soon. I miss it.
