Shopping

Nick and I are creatures of habit.

Well, actually we aren't, but in this one case we are, and that's what's important here. Anyway...

Normally, we do our shopping fortnightly on Wednesdays - mainly because that's when my IB comes in and we therefore have the money. This week, however, it looks like we won't have to do so - because Nick's mother has paid for us to go shoping online.

She does this periodically, and completely out of the blue. It is, of course, a very nice thing for her to do, and we're very grateful... but it can also be quite confusing. Last time, for example, she went through the 'shopping list' after we had made it all online, and when we got the goods a tub of ice cream had somehow morphed into two large jars of Kenco coffee and a tub of Sainsbury's butter substitute. Nick can't stand Kenco. And neither of us could stand the butter substitute (and we hadn't ordered any in the first place because we already had half a kilo of substantially better stuff.

She also tells Nick what he should be eating more of. I can't help but wonder if this is actually some cunning plan to actually make sure he's eating properly, although considering Nick's age and the fact that he's lived away from home for over a decade now, this is also a slightly unusual point.

Ah well. Not complaining, of course. Just slightly bemused by it all.
