Hope y'all are having a good rest-of-the-year. My work was canceled for the rest of the week after a desultory effort put forth by some of us on Monday to show up and do things. So mostly I've been eating and staring out at the snow.
ontheborderland's pulla recipe is super fantastic! I cannot make dough rise well in my (drafty, cold) kitchen, so this is me impatiently prepping the undersized batch for braiding.
Fancy-pants braid pre-final-rise.
Easier braid (which also allows for larger serving sizes).
Glorious, glorious bread!
This is bread p0rn.
Yesterday we went to a friend's house to eat way too much of everything (but especially meat) and do a little slumber party (after a decadent round-robin of massages and the viewing of most of the Star Wars Holiday Special). Things I learned: 1) venison cooked on a block of salt is heaven in my mouth,
2) I am too old for slumber parties,
3) There just can't be a script for the Star Wars Holiday Special. There just can't be!!!,
and 4) being in the minority in a room full of handsy LMTs will never be a bad thing.
The snow is finally starting to melt a little bit. The roads will probably be clear after this weekend. Until then, a little more winter wonderment:
As in "I wonder if we'll ever get the car out of the driveway ever again?"
