The Mister and I are IKEA's bitches, y'all. Over the course of the weekend we bought:
- a lovely, plush, sumptuous rug for the living room (don't worry, I'm not posting pics of everything, I just really, really love this rug).
- a daggum hanging system for all our pots, pans, tools, etc. for the kitchen. (Including a sort of potentially dangerous paper towel holder:
)
Dang. Ours is just for the paper towels... I would've totally gotten this three-roll version if we had seen it!
- a tall, roughly 2'x2' table for the dining room to replace the ginormous chinoiserie behemouth for everyday eating (things were starting to feel like that breakfast sequence from Citizen Kane which is not conducive to the whole Project: Reconnection thing we've got going on.)
Extra bonus: it's called BJÖRKUDDEN!
- two stools to go with our new intimate dining table
- two completely different end tables for the living room (our furniture does not match at the moment, so we figured why start?) One of them currently houses my knitting WIPs, the other one is just pretty.
- a third end table which is really just an incredibly sturdy stool - looks like a beefy plant stand. We were in dire need of end tables.
- a ginormous (it's redonkey kong!) coffee mug for work. I've smashed my last two soup bowl/coffee mugs and have been using "public" mugs at work. No more! Hopefully I will not wipe out on this one either. But if I do, it was super cheap.
- matching bins for our recycling! This is a huge deal for us since prior to the en-binnation, we were just sort of throwing the recyclables in a general area next to the kitchen door.
There were a few various and sundry more things ($0.99 red pillar candles? Load 'em up!) but those were the big items. For being such a reluctant shopper, The Mister was hugely into the impulse buying yesterday. I think we spent four hours at the store. Whew!
And just one more list for today -- our incredibly awesome IT guy (so personable! so responsive!) brought in a bunch of cookies his wife made over the weekend. We've been grazing on:
- mini-chocolate chip cookies
- snickerdoodles
- s'mores bars
- vanilla wafer/peppermint patty sandwiches
'Tis the season!
