Back from camp. Actually, I've been back since mid-Saturday but I haven't gotten around to posting about it until now. It was, as usual, a fantastic week. Perhaps more so than usual this year since I knew it was my last year and I wanted to make the most of it. I tried things I'd never done before (like sock tag and whiffle ball) or that I hadn't done in several years (like the slip n slide), was confident and unusually sociable, actually took some pictures for the first time since my first year, didn't feel awkward in my dress, wrote more mail than usual, and was so busy with activities during rec that I barely spent any time in my cabin and only made about four lanyards. I also kept a journal, so this year wouldn't join the others in a big, happy, indistinct Sugarloaf blur of memories. It wasn't perfect- I didn't enjoy the music selection or teachers as much this year in band- but it was pretty awesome. Apparently people really enjoyed our skit this year, unlike past years when it hasn't really stood out. Just a random note. I managed not to cry at the last campfire (I was busy looking forward to the truly awesome pizza party/volleyball game) or at the morning speeches for the last-year campers, but I did lose it singing Friends after all the performances. Then several random times over the rest of Saturday, which just got annoying. I decided that I very badly want to be a counselor, but I have to wait till after next year to apply since counselors need to be eighteen (to get fingerprinted). But hopefully I'll come back.
Since I've been back, I went to a bridal shower for my cousin in Reno on Sunday, caught up on sleep a bit, and babysat on Tuesday and Wednesday. I missed Daniel's birthday party and the party my mom threw for people from work on Friday, but I got him his gifts anyway. Since his parents found a good daycare for while I was at Sugarloaf, I don't have to babysit four days a week anymore. It's mostly by choice now. Two days this week, one day next week... my schedule is loosening up a bit. Finally scheduled my driving test with the DMV, but it's about a month after I first could've had it since I took too long to sign up. Also, I've fallen in love with a long, awesome Marauder-era Harry Potter fanfic called "The Shoebox Project." Yesterday, I finished a long book in around four days- mysteries are addicting.
