Speculation is worse than any reality...

So it is 9/12/08. One day after 9/11.

As we all know, one of the days that has made an important place in American history. The day the towers fell.

How convenient that one of the biggest, most feared storms will hit the day after this date.

Something new to remember.

Ike has already began showing its effects on Texas as nightfall comes closer. Ocean waves are being pushed by increasing wind causing floods even though it's 200 miles away. The specs on this thing are incredible.

I think it's gonna be one of those worst case scenarios. I feel sorry for the people that will lose their homes and even their lives. I wish the best for those that are staying and are going to brave through the storm as stupid as it may be. I'm really more thankful for things when I think about what others have to go through and I think how much safer and easier I have it.

However, I will still complain and worry even though I'm not in any real danger because even though the storm will not directly affect me or alot of people, pain will come from it.

Oil production has stopped in fear of this storm and fuel prices are at all time high. Not only are prices high, but they are having to limit the distribution of oil due to pipelines closing and refineries shutting down. Prices were already high, but now because of a business fueled by greed and fear, it is now truly out of control. Waiting in line for 5$ a gallon is now a fear that has become a reality.

People worldwide are suffering from the high cost of energy, which has driven up the price of everything transported with it. The earth's population begs for more and more as each year passes, and it seems profit is more important over anything else. Therefore nothing will change.

This oil thing will be the undoing of us all.

So, I wonder is this the end?

I am convinced that the world will not end because of a natural disaster, but by greed and fear. As a matter of fact, natural "disasters" are good for the earth. Of course it is said every day, we aren't. We are a greedy, pampered species growing lazy and more listless as we strive for nothing more than to be entertained because everything is so easy. Our technology has shot to the moon with each passing year, while our transportation and even the leaders we follow are about as advanced as they were in the 1950s. Maybe with a new coat of paint.

..but enough complaining. I'm gonna stop typing because I keep going back and adding things.

I'm staying in this weekend, because the outside is scary.

"Although their effects on human populations can be devastating, tropical cyclones can also relieve drought conditions. They also carry heat and energy away from the tropics and transport it toward temperate latitudes, which makes them an important part of the global atmospheric circulation mechanism. As a result, tropical cyclones help to maintain equilibrium in the Earth's troposphere, and to maintain a relatively stable and warm temperature worldwide."

Heal the world.
