When trying to use a publicly accessible computer with the software you need -- Excel, since OpenOffice has a complete inability to do charts, let alone do them even moderately well, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna turn an hour's worth of work into a three-day project in IDL -- start by making sure that previous users didn't set the OS to be using Chinese!
