let's talk

For over a year now I having being seeking my voice.
I think a lot. I tend to live in my head. I was often admonished by my professors at university for living too much in my head. “Get it out, put it on the desk!” they would say. Well my desk is about to get bigger. Let’s put it on the internet.

So what have I been thinking about for the last year?
Rape. Slut Shaming. Sexism. Abortion. Motherhood as a feminist issue. Birth. Breastfeeding. Gun rights. The lack of research on gun violence. Climate change. Racism. Violence against trans gender persons. War. The for profit prison system in the US. The place of black men in that system.

So that scratches the surface. And a preview of what I want to start exploring publicly.

Fair warning: I am liberal. With a capital L. This is not negotiable.
For me that means that: I am a feminist, I am concerned with social justice across many issues (intersectionality), I am an environmentalist, just to name a few.
And this is my space. I reserve the right to not debate certain issues. I will discuss them, but I have a limit past which I will not engage. I will give fair warning, but will then ignore an argument I feel has gone too far. There are enough spaces in which to have those fights and my personal space doesn’t need to be one.
Also I am a Liberal Christian. Jesus had a lot to say about social justice, we should listen more. That said I am not an evangelist. I am interested in hearing about your religion/spirituality and happy to talk about mine. I don’t want to change your faith, please respect mine.

Now to get to work on all this.
